according ABTA travel trends report that in 2024 83% of people where booking their holidays online. 17% went in store and 16% did it over the phone and the 9% someone else booked it for them. prior to the growth of the internet booking holidays within a travel agent was the preferred way to book. travel companies have had to make apps so it easier for people to book holidays and keep it safe. our mobile phones can do everything for us now so we can use it as a tour guide, travel agency, find you the best restaurant, maps and many more. According to trip advisor 45% of users use their phone for everything having to do with their holidays. for example at Weatherpoons or Nandos you can order food online and pay online now, keyless entry at hotels so youre is on your phone, can now have boarding passes on your phone. Tui have their own cruise ship and they have an app called Navagate and this allows them to book restaurants book excurssions without the use of WIFI as they charge you £15 a day for 3G. Airlines have realised how important internet is to customers. Depending on what airline you are flying with you can get WIFI on board for example British Air Ways offer this. Online check-in, prior to online check-in people used to spend hours in a queue to check in at the airport. thanks to technology it has cut down the queue as most airlines allow customers to check in up to 24 hours before their flight. airport security- Birmingham Airport have launched their new security hall, they have invested in new technology including scanning equipment to be able to process travellers quickly under the new regulations imposed by the UK government. tui are sure to close down 166 of its 516 high-street stores in the UK and Ireland as it adapts to change in customer behaviour.

they are shutting the high street shops as more and more people are booking and planning their holidays online and instore booking has decreased massively. The move by Tui will cost 900 peoples jobs.

Well done MERIT awarded. This is an excellent submission of work from you. The work is detailed and you have included a lot of research and statistical data. You included pictures also which made the Padlet more inviting. If you would like to go for a distinction, there were some statistical data we spoke about that could have been used in your work including infographics about the number of people using apps and their phones to book holidays. There were some areas of your work that was also developmental including where you spoke about the different types of cruises. An excellent submission well done!
