My Final Reflection

When I first started learning the piano, I knew what skills I wanted to acquire. My primary focus was mastering the piano fundamentals, including scales, arpeggios, and exercises. My focus has been learning about music theory, precisely the principles of harmony, melody, and structure. This was also my intention. I had previously played the harp, and later in life, after playing several instruments on the same instrument (I eventually decided to play the "basic" parts of the piano). My approach to teaching included utilizing Skoove's live lessons and several online platforms and interactive tools.

Learning piano skills, music theory, and simple melodies contributed to my learning. What did I learn? My ultimate achievement was to perform "Faded" by Alan Walker with both hands simultaneously. This is what I learned so far. I aimed to improve my technical abilities and acquire the mental and practical knowledge necessary to master a new instrument. Skoove taught me to establish a solid foundation in piano lessons and gradually build up my proficiency as I worked on advancing my learning.

Skoove's live classes emphasize participation, experimentation, and reflection as constructivist elements. I find this approach to be in line with my learning preferences. I can engage with the material and receive prompt feedback on my progress. With Skoove's live classes, you can access video lectures, interactive exercises, and self-assessment tools to help you break down complex skills into manageable steps. Each class is tailored to teach a specific skill, such as hand and balance techniques. It enables both strengthening the learning process and correcting challenging exercises. The platform is designed to prevent excessive information, allowing for the development of practical skills.

The lessons of Skoove are rooted in the constructivist approach and are interconnected with various educational theories.1234. According to Shabani et al. (2010), students can gradually enhance their skills through structured support, known as the zone of proximal development (ZPD). Skoove's lessons serve as a bridge between basic piano instruction and advanced piano training. One of the critical aspects of adaptation is the adjustment of knowledge to new experiences. During my piano lessons, I adjusted my previous musical abilities to the unique demands of playing on the piano and learning music theory and technique.

Skoove's interactive feedback was a standout feature. Her attitude was kind, and she responded promptly. I was given immediate feedback that helped me fix the mistakes, and it quickly reinforced my skill development routine. Thank goodness. This immediate feedback reduced my bad habits and helped me improve. Skoove's well-structured approach to education fostered the development of reasoning abilities. He effortlessly learned basic hand positions and advanced skills such as bimanual coordination. The experience was enjoyable. The lessons learned over time allowed me to build on my previous skills and abilities. This continuous evolution eventually brought about a more confident and polished performance. Skoove taught me at any time, enabling me to practice myself. This level of leniency was fundamental to me as it allowed me to work on complex concepts without pressure.

I was able to learn without any limitations, thanks to Skoove. Skoove's evaluations were helpful but lacked individualized recommendations in certain instances. I would have been better off with more focused guidance as these issues were complex. My learning experience was not adequately addressed by the general feedback I received. At first, Skoove taught lessons that were not as singular. While skill development requires repetition, incorporating varied exercises into your routine will keep you engaged. The classes at Skoove offered honest feedback but did not have a direct connection with the instructor. "Live" usually means feedback given through software rather than an instructor in the classroom. As a student proficient in online education, I found the lack of communication with my instructor incredibly concerning.

Individuals struggling with specific skills could benefit significantly from personalized feedback. To prevent boredom at the start, Skoove could implement more varied workouts.' Games or exercises with popular music could add excitement and enjoyment to the learning process, especially for beginners who struggle with repetitive practice. The platform could be bolstered by allowing students to join live lessons or ask questions directly to the teacher for personalized assistance.

My progress on the piano has been remarkable; as I can recall, I learned a few essential skills in the first few weeks, including hand positioning, meaningful names, and solving critical scales. At 2 and 3 weeks, I could perform basic movements with my right arm or my left. Skoove's suggestion of practicing with two hands improved coordination and laid the groundwork for more complex movements. As I progressed, my main priority was to complete my last project, Faded. For me, this worked best by breaking down the score into smaller-scale questions, practicing each hand separately, and then combining them. At first, it was difficult to remember the score. The ease I adapted made practice sessions more manageable, and I felt more confident handling longer distances. "Faded" was a part I had completed by the end of my education. It was an incredible accomplishment. It demonstrated the worth of what I had already learned.

I got outstanding live lessons from Skove. My development as an aspiring pianist was facilitated by the constructivist approach, structured learning paths, and interactive feedback provided on the platform. While Skoove had some shortcomings, such as the need for more personalized guidance and better real-time interaction, it still provided me with a solid foundation for learning. By the end of my journey, I had accomplished my primary objectives of acquiring fundamental piano skills, mastering music theory, and confidently playing principal pieces. Skoove provided me with the confidence to start learning piano even more. The direction this journey will take me is something I am eagerly anticipating.

References

Shabani, K., Khatib, M., & Ebadi, S. (2010).
