I currently teach 5th grade Science, along with every other subject, of course! I have been teaching in Redmond for 3 years. Before moving to Central Oregon, I taught 6th grade math and science in Virginia for 9 years. I don't have much experience with the NGSS, and have only used bits and pieces of NGSS resources in my classroom, but am extremely excited that we are moving in that direction next year! I think it will allow me the opportunity and flexibility to teach science in the way I have always loved!

I teach PreK - 3 in a small rural school 20 miles from Stacey's school. Many years ago we worked together in Adel as Aides or paraprofessionals. We had a wonderful time for over ten years and I look forward to this class. Currently I have 2 K's and 1 second grader - all girls but to liven it up a little we have 2 - 3 year olds and 3- 4 year olds come 2 mornings a week. We bus them which helps with attendance.

Although Stacey and I work in independent districts, we have a inter-district agreement which allows me to teach the Preschool-3rds from both Plush and Adel while we send her our 4th - 8th students. This has been in place for many years and seems to work well. I love science and look forward to learning more about the new prog

Hello! I am a semi-retired middle school science teacher. Semi-retired because I took early retirement from Eagle Point School District and signed on as an independent contractor teaching STEM classes at The Valley School, a Montessori-inspired charter school in the Medford School District. In my opinion, teaching from a science-based, project-oriented perspective would benefit students, especially struggling students, by giving them a real-world focus for math and ELA instruction. I tried to implement NGSS in my EP classroom, but lack of resources, information, and admin support frustrated me. So, here I am!

Hello! My name is Samara however I mostly go by Sam. I am an Education Program Assistant for the 4-H Youth Development Program in Lake County (same as Stacey and LuAnn). Part of my position focuses on school enrichment and non traditional 4-H programing. I am currently teaching math and science lessons in grade 3-6 using Sphero SPRK+ robotics. My programming is used by teachers to supplement what the students are learning in Math and Science. I am currently working with 4-H Agents from Crook and Deschutes counties to create a curriculum for Sphero SPRK+ robotics that can be used in Extension Offices statewide. That being said, understanding NGSS will be my first step to complete the task.

I am teaching middle school science (6th and 8th) in White City, Oregon, just outside of Medford. I taught in the Central Valley in CA for 7 years before moving to OregonThis is my 10th year teaching but first at the middle school level. Our district has gone full bore NGSS even though the OAKS test is still given and the standards do not line up. So I am hoping to pick up some hints and ideas from fellow educators and how they are implementing NGSS into their lesson plans, especially since I am new to this population of students.

My teaching began with 7 years in Milton-Freewater teaching HS integrated science to freshmen and zoology/ botany to Jr/Srs. I dabbled in admin with 2 years as a HS principal in Burns but that didn't suit me and I've spent the last 2 years in White City teaching MS science. I teach 7th and co-teach 8th grade with Scott. I have some NGSS experience - I have attended some trainings over the last few years and spent 5 days evaluating some new NGSS curricula last summer. I'm most interested in finding practical ways to apply the NGSS inquiry-based design into our lessons. Looking forward to working with all of you!

Hi! I teach 4th grade at a private school in Portland. We are an IB Immersion School with three languages. I teach in the Spanish Track. I have a BS in Chemical and Industrial Engineering so Science and Math are my passions!! In order to find a common ground among the language tracks, my school decided to adopt the Common Core and NGSS standards. I have been working with them for almost three years, however I feel I need to learn more and prepare myself better in order to implement them properly.I am really excited to start working with all of you!!
