We are taking a hybrid approach. Some of the badges are earned entirely virtually - for example, the Leading Edge Certification badges. Some other badge pathways include choices of synchronous online, asynchronous online, and face-to-face training. Let us know if you have more questions.

I am sure each COE is different. At RCOE, we have a mix of free, or low cost PD. But we also offer the intensive Leading Edge Certifications (http://www.leadingedgecertification.org/) which is fee-based. One of the benefits of creating a digital badge hub at the county is that districts can piggyback off of our platform in order to 1) reduce their costs, and 2) have staff and students using one platform that can house badges from their district, the county, and other districts.

Great question...as for the SCOE Badge Project there aren't really any incentives that we offer from our COE other than the possibility to win something cool that celebrating their adult learning. We do not charge for anyone to use the SCOE Badge Project.
