Tamaya has no idea why Marshall suddenly knows a shortcut, but once she figures out that Marshall is trying to avoid a schoolyard brawl, she'll do whatever it takes to get away from Chad. Yet, she's reluctant to go in the woods, which is off limits. Finally, Chad finds them lost in the woods, and puts up a fight. Scared, Tamaya picks up and throws the fuzz-covered mud at him. Tamaya throws the fuzzy mud in Chad's face and runs away. She then gets a rash on the hand she touched the mud with that gets worse. In the questioning, we learn that the ergies are killed by oxygen and multiply into two every 36 minutes. Tamaya and Marshall retern to school and the story leaves of then. That is the main summery of the given selection of Fuzzy Mud. She thought it would be a good idea to put some of her mothers hand cream, but she comes to realize that made the infection even worse. The next day at school the headmistress Ms. Thaxton announces that Chad has gone missing. After hearing this announcement Tamaya gets very nervous, but holds off on telling anyone about what her and Marshall were doing in the woods. But, while writing in her journal she realizes that her hand is gushing blood! She rushes down to the office and the nurse does all she can to help her figure out why it is so bad. The nurse asks her all sorts of questions to help her figure out what happened. But, after trying they are still clueless. So the nurse bandaged her up and sent her back to class.  At recess she sees Marshal and tells him what happened even thought he already knows. He tells her that she cannot tell anyone about what had happened and she needs to keep quiet. In the beginning Tamaya was writing on how to blow up a balloon. But then her hand got all bloody. Marshall was in math when the headmistress came in and asked if anyone knew what happened to Chad, but he lied. After that Tamaya went to the school nurse who asked her lots of questions but Tamaya thought it was the mud. When Tamaya came back she saw some balloons blew up. Then her friends tell her to lie and say something about the rash that's not what happened. Then she talked to the older boys about Chad and the rash. Meanwhile, Tamaya is guiding Chad to the school. They talk about why Chad is so mean, which is because he feels as if no one cares about him. A gully comes into their path back home. Tamaya attempts to jump across the gully.. She makes the jump, but the rock she lands on collapses. She falls head-first into some fuzzy mud and gets it in her eyes, as well as her whole face. Tamaya gets stuck. Luckily, Marshall struts in and saves the day by pulling her out of the mud. Tamaya has her sight and everything seems fine. While making their way back to school, the trio talks about why Chad is so rude to Marshall, which is because he is jealous of people actually liking Marshall, and he thinks no one likes him. Suddenly, Tamaya closes her eyes, and when she opens them she is blind! So, Marshall has to guide both Tamaya and Chad around. After walking around for a while, a dog saves them by barking and alerting its owner that she found something.
