McCarthy remained in the Senate, but he lost all of his influence. Many movies about the FBI were released during this time including I Was A Communist for the FBI and Walk East on Beacon. These movies helped spread the fear that the Soviet Union could drop a bomb on us at any time and that there were people who lived around you in your cities that were Communist.
