Besides coding, the teacher could try different approaches and let the children decide which to choose, dividing the class in small groups and analyzing the results, at the end with the same test to all of the children.
At the classroom, they could have a sort of a diary to fill with the things they have learned and with the things they would like to learn. At the end of the week, maybe the class could have an assembly where students could share their accomplishments and help others understand, by using different points of view.

To use the problem-solving strategy to improve students' learning is undoubtedly an excellent method because it involves the students in the teaching-learning process and develops various skills. In classes with high number of students as it happens in Portugal, I organise the students in small groups to promote peer collaboration. Each group has to solve a situation from a problem question and follows the research methodology, searching for information, discussing the most appropriate solutions to the problem. At the end, each group presents the solutions found for the problem to the class and a discussion is held in the class group. During the process, I guide the students, questioning them about the solutions found and record the students' progress. This strategy allows the development of communication skills, critical thinking, interpersonal relationships and collaborative work, putting students at the centre of the learning process.

Depending on the work to be done, I organize questionnaires via google forms. Sometimes I apply them at the beginning of the activity to see their preliminary information, to get their opinions, or at the end to learn about the learning and the impact on the student, to ask them to make an evaluation. I definitely inform and share the results. The project can be developed and revised if necessary.

First of all the topic she choose is relevant but i think that the mathematical problem solving skills are really complex. I think it's not easy to improve them in a short time using coding. I would suggest to use other methods for example solving easy real problems. Nevetheless it's really interesting that she learnt a lot about her teaching.
