Practicum block was a great experience. I felt much more comfortable in the classroom once I started teaching regularly. I am looking forward to getting to know and connecting with more students in the second semester!

I have become more confident as a teacher and look forward to graduating and feel confident to have my own classroom!
When my students came to say hi to me at lunch and eat in the room. The fact I could make my room a safe space for students mean I’ve done a good job connecting which is important in high school.
When there was a cyber attack I was panicked and had to switch my whole plan I was feeling down but I switched and felt better!
I’m looking forward to teaching 100% but not sure about teaching post jaw surgery lol.
Lots of communication between teachers and they help each other so everyone can be successful.

My practicum block was a good experience. I feel more comfortable with the school as it is hard only being there 1 day a week, but being there day in and day out for weeks helps with my comfort level. Highs school students can be intimidating but I now feel more confident in my abilities than i did back on September 15th.

I am more confident in my ability to teach high school, but may want to actually teach middle school. Mentally I'm worn down but I'm trucking along.
I took on my CTs entire course load and the lead-up made me terrified but as I went and taught, graded, made lessons, I was shocked that I was able to do it!
The full responsibility of grading, class prep, and teaching was felt. I was a little overwhelmed at times which made me question my ability to do it all on my own next year.
I'm so scared. I'm jumping from science to ELA and it feels like I'm starting all over again. I am excited to be taught something new, but theres a lot of pressure on this block.

I am hopeful that support systems will be better in spring block. I am grateful that I am a 'safe' person, especially for my previous Grade 11 students, who were very happy/surprised to see me again on Tuesday and were very interested to hear about my break and were excited that I am nearing being 'almost done' university.

I am in doubt that I want to teach in a high school environment, I think I might be leaning back more towards middle school or early years. I miss the supportive/school community, and do not have that at my current school.

I am looking forward to continuing to plan realistic lessons, building my teacher toolbox and making relationships/connections within the building and community.

I found that I was more reflective than I anticipated during my practicum block. I found that I was very critical of my identified mishaps which led to over thinking lessons and assignments. It is a goal of mine to spend more time reflecting on what I am proud of so I reduce the self-imposed burdens.

Overall my block was a great experience and my students were gracious enough to learn alongside me. I appreciate their effort and the feedback they gave me.

Practicum block went fairly smoothly when it came to planning and teaching etc. I felt i was able to make great connections with the kids in my classes as well as carry over into some sports where students can see my non teacher side but coaching side. I have had some students come to my class during my prep to just talk or ask how i am doing. I felt like i fit in very well and there weren't any moments of questioning my self or how i should go about anything. One of the best moments was the principle pulling me aside during my last day asking for me to sub and what subject areas i like/Where i see myself next year.

Practicum Block was good, it was nice to finally get to know the students outside of seeing them only once a week and unfairly forcing them to get to know someone that they would only see for one hour of their week. I got to form better relationships with the students immediately once I started showing up consecutively. I am looking forward to teaching new subject areas this upcoming spring block.

I really enjoyed the block. I was surrounded by supportive teachers who helped guide me and challenged me. I also made great connections with the students. It has been a big adjustment going from teaching in an elementary school to high school, and I was out of my comfort zone in high school. I gained confidence throughout the block. This block confirmed that I still want to be a teacher and am passionate about it. However, I enjoyed being an elementary more.

I am currently grading my student's final projects, I feel I am through working with my students collaboratively to grade my students projects.

One takeway, I had is that teaching in the classroom does not need to follow one traditional path instead we as a classroom can take the learning adventure and try new strategies.

Before my block began I tweeked my research topic a little bit to focus more on teaching strategies instead curriuclum, because I released that during the block I was going to use different teaching strategies that would have different results. ( I can explain more if needed.)

I enjoyed my practicum experience this past block. The first week was pretty stressful but once I got through that, it was much better. I was a bit nervous going into block considering this is my first time in a high school but I really enjoyed my students and the age group! I look forward to my second block and feel a bit more confident going into things.

I was working in a pembina trails school, which was hit with a major cyber attack half way through my block...

I wasn't even allowed to connect my offline laptop to a projector to show slides. The attack completely changed everything I did, and made most of my previous prep useless.

I adapted quickly and made changes, though it was frustrating that everything i prepared before hand could no longer be used...

My practicum experience was good overall. All of the students and staff members were very welcoming. The most complex challenge I had during the block was the outage the division experienced. Not having access to the internet, printing, or computers for the last two weeks was interesting, especially since I had to replan the final two weeks of the block. However, I am looking forward to heading back into the classroom during the block in the spring!

Practicum was an amazing learning experience. My biggest challenge was maintaining and keeping up with the prep and other work load of marking.

In terms of the teaching portion, I really felt like I fell into the place of their teacher for the four weeks, and many students were very excited.

Coming back yesterday to practicum so many of my students were so excited to see me, it really reminded me that the connection I had built with those students was strong.
