My name is Daniela Rocha and I am currently in my first semester of the M.A. in Mental Health and Wellness Counseling Program.

My main personal goal is to absorb as much information as possible from this class, and utilize this resource guide to keep for future reference.

Professionally, I hope to take all the information and gathered knowledge and apply it to a future role in either higher education counseling or in a criminal justice setting.

In regards to what I would like to gain from this course is, frankly, anything and everything I can. I am so glad this padlet is part of our graded assignments because it will truly help me in retaining as much information as possible.

This assignment was a great opportunity to engage in detailed research regarding some mental health disorders. It helped me find the DSM5-TR again and it proved to be a great asset to complete this reference guide. I expect this reference guide to help me throughout the course of my program and in my future profession, where ever I end up. Developmental Discussion on Trauma

This part of the assignment was very interesting and I leaned a lot about mental health and the criminal justice system. I learned that trauma has a huge role in people’s lives, how they deal with their situations, and sadly if not acknowledged, how they end up.

This was extremely similar to what my future role as a crime victim advocate would entail. Similar to the defense attorneys in Murder to Mercy: The Cyntoia Brown Story, advocating for victims of crime, regardless if they themselves are offenders, is what a CVA would strive to be.

This assignment was my introduction to the ACE questionnaire and it really made me dive in it as I found them interesting. Additionally, this was a great introduction to the many types of traumas and the information provided and found from independent research defining them and the trauma informed approaches information will really help me in the future while working with victims of crime.
