The Great Depression was the ultimate American crisis. If government funds had to be spent on New Deal relief efforts, all of that money should have gone towards things that solved immediate emergencies or made a lasting difference: food relief, infrastructure, economic stimulus, etc. There is no reason tax payer money should have been spent on things like art and music. Tie your opnion to evidence from course materials.

-I chose this piece because this is exactly how I imagined life in the 30's to be. Men in suits getting proper haircuts in a barbershop. This picture shows a gentleman getting a hot shave with a straight razor by a real barber. Taxpayer money should never go to art and music in any capacity. At the very least people should be allowed to choose what the money being taken from them is going towards. To get out of a depression there needed to be a great economic stimulus that unfortunately had to come through world war 2. Also, in a depression, food is more important than art because with no food, future artists will die.
