1. Learning from Each Other

Students see each other as valuable addition in their learning community. It gives them the sense of respecting each other, being caring, and open-mindedness. To them learning is not an isolation but it is attained best when it is shared. Therefore, Exhibition is an inquiry that involves them and the entire community.

2. Learning about learning

When students are to design their own learning as to how and where it should go for the rest of the school year means giving them the steering wheel to drive their learning wherever it leads them to. This means so much to them that their opinions and ways are trusted and honored. Hence, the Exhibition will become an exciting culmination for students as they all look forward to their inquiries.

3. Supporting Student's Initiative

There's no better way to support out school children than providing them the environment that lets them feel the sense of belongingness. Welcoming their authentic suggestions and initiatives give them validation that their voice matters and is very important. Students will become confident in sharing their actions and take responsibility on their Exhibition process.

Teaching and Learning Capabilities : How these ideas link to my capabilities ?

1. I can support student innovation and creativity through a process of inquiry, action, and reflection.

-Before the start of the unit of inquiry, I always ask students to design their Inquiry cycle as to what, how, where, when , who they need (resources) to support their inquiry and learning, come up with a meaningful action, and attain the success criteria. Making Actions and Reflections are part of our day-to-day exit card. So when it is time for Exhibition, students are very much fluent as to what to do and where they are heading to, it's kind a more of them in the whole process and not the teacher.

2. I can provide and maintain an environment within which students feel safe (physically, culturally, socially, emotionally) to be responsible for their own learning.

- Students must work on their Exhibition according to their will, enthusiasm, and motivation to apply what they learned over the years in the PYP. As Teachers we don't pressure them, we provide a safe and fun learning environment where they can explore the world according to their means and ways.

3. I can provide opportunities for students to make connections and transfer learning to new contexts and across subjects.

-IB teaching is always transdisciplinary. Our school children are used to connecting the UOI's central idea to Math, to Music, to English, at home or even within the community. I always hear my students "AHA moment" every time they see connections around them even for a single instance or situation they are into. For example, the Unit was about WHO WE ARE- Body Systems, the student shared: "Most of the food we eat reflect on the shape of our organs, just like a walnut is good for the brain because it shapes like a brain. The beans look like kidneys too, so I think it's better to eat natural food to sustain the health and function of our body organs and systems."

Wonderful ACTION, isn't it?
