MLA: Asher, Razorbill, 13 reasons why, 2007

  1. I have read 88 pages from the Book so far.


In the pages I have read so far, the narrator “Clay Jensen” has continued to talk about his past and flashback to when his friend was alive. He listens to the first 3 cassettes and is going to continue after he confronts the individuals mentioned in these 3 tapes.

Alex Standall : Was a new kid moving to town at the same time Hannah was, he was her first real friend but he ends up being on the cassette tapes.


Jessica Davis: Was also a new kid in town and was one of Hannahs few friend until she decided to date Hannahs newly ex boyfriend.


Zach Dempsey: Hannah begins to crush on him after he comforts her over her newly break up.


Character chart: Old


Clay Jensen: He continues to listen to the cassette tapes and confront the people on them.


Hannah Baker: While we know she is dead, the narrator continues to include her in flashbacks and include much of her dialogue.

Author Jay Asher is interviewed on his book, in the interview Jay talks about how well the story has blown up in the teenager and younger adult population. He then goes on to talk about how he got the idea and story line.


 


5. Jay Asher was born in 1975 so he grew up through the 80s and 90s. Not many social or cultural influences were used towards writing his book, as he states in the interiews.
