This method helps smaller animals survive and balance out ecosystems so that larger animals don't take over everything. Traveling in groups has scientifically proven that animals who do this are generally more safe than those who travel alone. When these animals travel together, they are always looking out for each other and outnumbering predators making it hard for them to single out a specific individual. Also, having a large amount of animals together makes them blend visually making it hard for predators to choose their target. Finding food becomes easier when there are multiple animals helping each other out.
