· strengths and weaknesses

When it comes to strengths, I reckon I can communicate intelligibly. I actually know many expressions, slangs and phrasal verbs which help me out to express myself easily. I think I have a great potential in grammar and vocabulary skills as well.

Nevertheless, I have some week spots. I know how to come up with essays, texts, summaries, and so on, but I would like to learn a little more about academic writing. The last IELTS that I took, my writing score was 6.0. I finished the task and followed the instructions, but perhaps I lacked academic writing.

I believe my listening skill is great, however, in the listening part of the IELTS, I did not manage to concentrate, I was maybe nervous, but I would like to improve my listening skills as well.

· why I think my English is weak in certain areas and skills.

I suppose my weaknesses are most of all because I have never studied autonomously or taken a course in order to improve.

· concrete actions and materials to improve those weaknesses and prepare for an international exam.

I have searched in some webs to improve my academic writing skills. Plus, as I currently do my research in my master, I am improving little by little my writing skills as I have to write academically. Perhaps my listening is improving a lot since my master is 100% in English, and fortunately, I am getting used to listening to many accents as my teachers come from many countries.

· the best methods and resources to improve

I think the best way to cope with my difficulties is by being autonomous and by practicing as practice makes perfect. In terms of resources, we could visit many pages to practice and learn, i.e. IELTS with liz, I love that page.

As I know I have to improve what I had mentioned before, a feasible action plan has been created in order to manage to tackle my weak spots.

I’m going to try to take listening mock exams which are on YouTube, that way I will get used to listening IELTS listening tests, and so, I will be more familiar with the type of listening tasks.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VMGL5mbWaIk

When it comes to writing academically, I compromise myself to search on the web how to learn to write n that way. Therefore, I will learn not only how to improve in my next IELTS written tasks, but also to improve in my thesis as well.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GgkRoYPLhts

all in all, I think that the best way to improve my writing in English is by watching videos and taking notes.

I will keep track of the results I get from the listening tests, and also from the things I learn about academic writing. a journal, or notebook will be used as a tool in order to achive these goals.

Considering the progress I have had, I would like to say that I have practiced some listening IELTS tests that are on youtube. However, it has been a little difficult to do it frequently due to the amount of duties I have to do. the good thing is that now I have more time to focus on it.

In regard to the academic writing, I am very lucky because I'm currently taking a subject in my master's program, named "English for Academic Purposes". in this course, I already learnt 7 steps to write more academically, and to start to get used to writing in that way.

I think that there should not be any adjustments yet; it's a matter of dedication in order to achieve my goals.
