A popular question is: why did nobody try to kill him and prevent the awful things he did? Well, people did try. They just failed. There were at least 42 attempts on Hitler's life made by other people, two of which are detailed below.

The first attempt was in 1921 while he was still unknown to most. He was giving a speech when a bar fight broke out. Several people pulled out guns and fired shots at the podium, however, he was unharmed.

Georg Elser

In 1939, communist Georg Elser rigged a bomb to go off at a specific time when Hitler would be giving a speech on the anniversary of his arrest. However, Hitler had moved up the time of his speech, so the bomb exploded after he had left.

I chose this topic because I have always been interested in WWII, but never researched into Hitler. Going in, I just thought that he was a bad person that no one bothered to try to stop. I learned that many people did try to assassinate him. This changed my mind about some of the people of that time. I enjoyed learning that Hitler only had four remaining teeth at the end of his life.
