Polaris office is an application which can read .doc, .ppt, .xls, and pdfs. Hence, it can support many formats. Convenient and fast for everyone to use as it puts an office suite in your pocket.. Free, easy and reliable (with limited privileges and editing features because it has a paid version). It is now available to support Google Drive, Box, or SugarSync as of now. It has My Polaris Drive where you can save your files.. It does have advertisements, though it can be discarded when the client pays full time buy purchasing Remove Ad for $1.99. There are plans that are given for the client to decide on (loud storage and other features are upgradable). There are benefits when the client pays the application full such as conversions from .doc to .pdf etc.. It will ask for the compatibility of your phone to the application.

The app is free and there are no ads because it is supported by Google, but there are in-app purchases that allows the user to expand the memory of their drive/cloud for to save more input from the phone. The app is not that secure because it is accessible to people you either provide the info of your drive with or when the files from the drive are hacked.

Merriam-Webster Dictionary is a free mobile dictionary application that is optimized by many platforms to bring it just in your pocket. Good thing is that it can be accessed offline. It is not only a dictionary but it has features such as thesaurus, word games, puzzles and a voice-search feature that will improve your vocabulary.

It has a free version to install in phones and other gadgets though it has in-app purchases only if you want to avail a certain feature. (Which costs P99.00) It also has its paid version with added features which costs you P200. It does have advertisements that are popping out or located in the top or bottom of you screens when connected in a network. It does have an upgradable version which costs P200.00 in Google App Store. It can access your in-app purchases. It needs to know the pictures/media/file and the storage in your phone. Though it does not have an actual threat to the phone, advertisements might be a source but for the privacy, many sites said it does not have one.

Google Drive is a safe and reliable storage place where you can put all of your files and puts it within your reach such as in your smartphones, phablets, or in your computer. It saves not only document files but it also saves other kinds of formats and media such as videos, photos and etc. You can be assured that it is safe since it is backed up. A location for your google docs, slides and spreadsheets where you can invite other people to join you edit and brainstorm about a certain group project.

It can be purchased for free, though there are in-app purchases such as increasing the storage space. It is not ad-supported. It can be upgraded by its storage where you can increase the storage space for bigger files to be saved and you may have unlimited privileges or access on docs, spreadsheets, and slides. This application requires you to let them access your identity (your accounts (existing)), contacts, photos, media and files, storage, camera and it can download files without permission. The group does not really have any privacy concerns. Overall, it is a good application.

MX Player is a very powerful video player with advanced hardware acceleration and it also has subtitle support. It supports a wide range of video formats and it has many features that made it one of the best video players in smartphones such as multi-core decoding, subtitle gestures, kids lock and etc. It has a free version but there is a huge advantage upon availing it full- time or the MX Player Pro which will cost you P260. Upon installing it, MX Player Pro will access your photos, media, and files, storage, Wi-Fi connection information, Google license check and etc. For the group, it does not have any privacy concerns. Overall, it is a good application compare to other video player applications.

“slither.io" is one of the top new games of 2016. It is multiplayer game developed by Steve Howse. This game is similar and reminiscent of the classic game Snake. The mechanics of the game is that the player controls a snake avatar that grows in size by consuming multi-colored pellets that spawn randomly or when the player “eats” another snake the collided with it all while avoiding colliding with another snake. The bigger and longer the snake gets, the higher the score. Whoever has the highest score is the winner. The app itself is free, however it is supported by in-app purchases. There is no paid version upgrade. The app can access and read phone status and identity, read and modify files on the storage, and view network connections.

Clash Royale

Clash Royale is an online realtime card-based PvP game. Players unleash characters and abilities to attack their opponents castle while defending their own. Developed by majority of the team who brought us Clash of Clans, Clash Royale easily made it into the top games of 2016. Clash Royale is free and ad-free. it is supported by in-app purchases. Tinder is a dating app. Users create accounts that are shown to other users. You swipe left to pass and swipe right to like someone. Users who swipe right on each other’s profiles are then matched. Although there is still a stigma in the Philippines about online dating, Tinder is gaining traction with over 2 million downloads in our country on the App Store alone. The app is free and is supported by ads and in-app purchases such as Passport which allows matches abroad. There is no paid upgrade version. Snapchat

Snapchat is a social media application that allows users to send snaps of their days and publish it online. It also allows conversations between users that disappear once already read. The app can access and read phone status and identity, know your location, access the camera and microphone, control the flash, read contacts, read and modify files on the storage, receive data from the Internet, change network connectivity and view network connections.

Spotify

As the Internet connections speed up due to updates and technology while phone memory lags in progress, media streaming has gone on the rise. Spotify is a free music streaming app that allows users to make playlists, play songs, follow stations, and share these on the app for other users to see. The app is free with no paid upgrade version. It is, however, supported by ads and subscriptions. A free user can only listen online and play songs in shuffle mode. A paying user however can play any song on demand and even save these for offline use within the app only. The app can access and read phone status and identity, read and modify files on the storage, access Bluetooth, send broadcasts, use accounts on the device and view network connections with full network access.

Most of these apps have access to storage, accounts, and even Internet connections. For me, this raises a red flag as this means that at anytime, these apps could be saving my personal information in online storages. The fact that these permission may not be denied is a big concern as these are mandatory if you want to use the app. Given that these are necessary for the app to function properly, these apps still need to give users the ability to see and approve all data that will be sent and received.

These office documents include word, powerpoint, excel etc. and can also open any file format as this app has full compatibility with Microsoft Office. This app is free, however may contain advertisements and in-app purchases. It does not have a paid version and its developers continue to improve the app and make it more user-friendly. According to the additional information of the app, the app may access some information such as contacts, location, calendar etc. however with the user's permission first.
