I was the vice president of Loudspeakers at this point and I was very proud of my small team. SUS 1.0 managed to have 8 participants. It was fine considering our manpower and our first experience conducting an online competition.

Our event has turned into one of the staple competitions under APPLES and must be conducted in every academic session. 

Speak Up, Speakers! 2.0 was executed online as one of the competitions in Apples Week 2022: Applied Language Olympiad (ALO). Apples Week 2022 was an international English week. Loudspeakers only had 8 members, so we collaborate with another APPLES sub-club called Exactones. Thanks to Exactones, the whole process of executing this competition was smooth sailing.

SUS 2.0 received a total number of 20 participants from all over Malaysia and Indonesia. Since this was my last contribution to Loudspeakers, I must say I was so very proud of my team members. As a result, APB sent 4 representatives. This competition was organised by Walailak University, Thailand.

There were two stages. The first one was the prepared speech and the second one was the impromptu speech. The topic of the first stage was "21st-century education". All four of us managed to proceed to the next stage.

The second stage, which was the final round was an impromptu speech session based on a random topic. My topic was "Why Communication in The Workplace is Important?". I was very nervous, but I think I did pretty well.

One of the judges said I was very enthusiastic, and I was very good at delivering my points. However, the presentation could have been better if I speak slowly. As a trained public speaker, this comment felt surreal and new to me because I was trained to speak enthusiastically, but I got the point. Our speaking tone influences the audience's mood, hence I should be aware of who are my audience and choose a suitable speaking tone.

The final result was very unexpected to all of us. All four of us secured a spot!

Emily and Sofia won second place (these two were tied) while me (Raihan) and Zainurina won the Gold Prize Award. 

It was indeed a memorable experience.

The theme for this competition was COVID-19, so I wrote my own speech entitled "The Beginning of The End".
