Students will identify their personal important aspects within the story using videos.
Students will express their concerns on the story using words like think and state within their videos.
5. 5-10 minutes long
6. On a school website or Facebook page so parents and students have access to the content.
7. It provides a new aspect of expressing what is being said. It is easier to express your feelings through words rather than writing down an essay. People might get their points across better while discussing and can branch off new ideas from their peers.

1. Students will create a PSA.
2. Bullying - feelings from victims of bullying and how it negatively affects people
3. Students will express and discuss their emotions and ideas (about being bullied and how to prevent bullying).
4. Students will share emotions using expressive language.
Students will discuss/provide ideas using suggestive language.
5. 2-3 minutes
6. Videos can be shown during morning announcements, during a school-wide assembly, shared with the district's middle and high schools, etc.
7. It will give students the freedom to express their feelings and ideas in a creative way that they come up with. They are actively thinking about the issue and how it personally affects them, motivating them to do their best to try to make others understand. If they are motivated to get others to understand, hopefully they will be practicing their best critical thinking and literacy/language.

1. What would the purpose of their videos be (to tell a story, to create a PSA about some important topic, etc.)?
Make a PSA of issues in the school that they experience or have seen.

2. What are possible topics that could be used for the project? (While giving students freedom to create what they want is a key part of developing agency in critical literacy, giving direction can sometimes prevent students from being "paralyzed by choice"). Try to choose a general theme that taps into the ideas behind critical literacy.
Bullying, Discrimination, and Politics

3. What are the content objectives of this video project?
by the end of this project students will know how to defend their beliefs, they will also know how to help peers in similar situations.

4. What language goals would fit the project? (propose at least 2 language objectives that focus on function and form--use students will do x(function) with y (form)--for this activity we will not focus on specialized vocabulary).
4-5.1 Level 4: use of increasing range of strategies to:
-determine the main idea or theme, and
-explain how some key details support the main idea or theme
-summarize part of a text

5. How long should the video be when it is finished?
5-10 mins

6. Where could the finished products be shown that would make the students feel like their work has a true purpose?
during class or to other classes

7. How do you think your video project will help ELL's think critically about social issues while also practicing literacy and language skills?
Viewing a video helps them visually, and audibly view the topic. Editing and creating a script will help the students with language skills

1. to create a PSA
2. injustice, discrimination, bully
3. students will think critically think about these issues, and use technology, media and language to express their opinions.
4. Students will summarize the issue using complex sentences with increasingly specific vocabulary.
5. 5 minutes.
6. it will be played in school or on TV.
7. it will help them use many skills. During making this video, students are actively thinking about the issues, such as comparing themselves with each other. It also a good way to improve their language skills.
