The American Militia was well coped to work together due to multiple fights before with the native residents of America. The Main leader, Colonel William Campbell, lead them all through this war. They used multiple tactics to fight through and eventually win the war, despite having less men to fight than the Loyalist.

The Patriots resources mostly came from the same ones they used to make up their new home in America, as well as to gather food and supplies to build and for selling. Their weapons mostly used during this was their long barrel rifles, which were aimed and shot with by standing behind a tree, to protect themselves and blend in other than when their guns were out. The land set up in the end also helped them out, which was a hill. They were at the bottom, the Loyalists were at the top, and even if they had a high ground it wasn't effective since they was all cornered there by the Patriots.

As stated multiple times, the American Patriots surrounded the Loyalists by the bottom of the mountain and hid behind the trees were they could not be seen. Because of this, when the Loyalists leader, Patrick Ferguson led a suicide run down the hill to try and un-corner themselves, they ended up getting killed. Many of the Loyalists tried to surrender after he was killed, but was still shot dead due to the fed -up-ness of the Patriots.

The British had good leadership, Ferguson was well trained in conventional 18th century battle methods and all his men were well trained as well. He knew how to command them and they knew how to follow orders. His only problem was he thought the Patriots didn't stand a chance. There was no problem with the British leadership, it was the tactics that lost the battle.

The British used most of their resources effectively. They had about 200 men out foraging at a time, they were stocked with plenty of ammunitions and even the soldiers that had no bayonet (that was the main tactic Ferguson wanted to use) used old butcher knifes tied to the end of their muskets. The only resources the British failed to use, was their position on top of the hill. They set up no defenses, they barely had any cover, and what cover they did have they didn't use.

The British had terrible strategy. They took position on top of King's Mountain, the only cover there was the rocks on the mountain and they didn't even try to fortify. When the Patriots opened fire from all sides, Ferguson's plan had already failed. He was planning on bayonet charging the Patriots and figured they would turn tail and run after a few charges. However, the Patriots were spread out and hidden, so every charge failed. And as a last ditch effort Ferguson made a crazy suicidal charge to try to reposition but the Patriots shot them down quickly and efficiently.
