About the fact that MM have more citations, I think it might be investigated more. It can be explained by several factors that do not seem to be taken into account enough here.

- As mixed methods are implying more time and research skills (therefore authors), they could be often deployed to publish in high rank journals. 
- Furthermore, the creation of the Journal of Mixed Methods Research shows that despite a strong interest in Mixed Methods, it remains hard to publish it in “classical” journals. 
- Finally, the number of papers based on Mixed Methods designs is way below other types of designs. It could explain an “over-citation” in the methodology section.

MM influences, to the highest degree, methodological rigor. When rigor is present, the work is more easily absorbed by others. This is important for future works following on initial writings.
