Our relationship grew from Teacher/Parent to BEST FRIENDS to Cousins (inside joke)—and I wouldn’t change a thing! You’ve been an incredible Choir Dad to the Hall kids and a truly wonderful friend to me. Congratulations on your retirement—you’ve earned every bit of this rest! MSCS will never find another man like you!

At Colonial, my two favorite people were Mr. Roland Wilson and Ms. Pam Williams. I was lucky enough to start my middle school choir career with both, but only finished with Ms. Williams. Then I got to Central High School(I only went there because of Mr. Wilson)and was able to finish my high school choir career with him. Mr. Wilson would not only talk to me as his choir student, but like I was his choir son. A lot of those times, those talks would include a lot of yelling, and I am forever grateful for that. After a long teaching career, he was finally able to ride off into the sunset the way he wanted. Mr. Wilson, enjoy retirement and can’t wait to see your next chapter!

Hey Mr. Wilson,

I just wanted to take a moment to say thank you. I truly appreciate you for being our choir teacher, it was a blessing to be part of your class. Even in the moments when I may have gotten on your nerves, you never gave up on me or anyone else. You stood by our side and gave us the tools, lessons, and encouragement we needed to grow in music and in life.

God truly did a good thing in allowing you to retire. You’ve poured so much into your students over the years, and now it’s time for you to enjoy this next chapter with your wife and family, without looking back. As the Bible says, “Let your eyes look directly forward, and your gaze be straight before you.” (Proverbs 4:25)

Wishing you peace, joy, and all the rest you deserve. You’ll always be appreciated and remembered.

To my favorite choir teacher, thank you for everything. Thank you for teaching me and pushing me even when I wasn’t feeling it. I enjoyed the trips. Even when you kicked me out so many times, I learned that it’s not personal. I truly believe you’re purpose is to teach and you fulfilled that purpose. I am so grateful that I met you and took your class. All the yelling and throwing random items was out of passion. I tried not to laugh, but I knew you knew we could’ve did better. I wish you well in your journey.

Mr. Wilson, I love you sooo so much. You have were more than just a “Choir Director” You were, to many of us, Like a Father ! Thank you for all of your kind words, thank you for your guidance, thank you for believing and supporting all the way with no limits and restraints. You are such a Giant in this world, and I pray that God continues to bless you, to cover you, to keep you and encourage you as you get ready to embark the journey of retirement. It been a long time since I was in you class Mr. Wilson but, out of all my classes yours was the most memorable. I remember when I was put in your beginning choir on accident and I wanted to leave because I was never confident in my singing. But! When you first started teaching me I realized it wasn't all about sounding like Beyonce or hitting the notes like Mariah Carey but, it about having fun and enjoying the craft of music however you can. And I am so thankful for the realization. Love you Mr. Wilson! May God always bless you soul♡

You fall into that group of people in my life I thought I'd never need but can't imagine having not met you. You are a true mentor to me. The worst part of my high-school experience is having not having been in your class sooner so I'd have more to talk about, but I'm happy with the memories of ours that I can recount whenever I find myself humming or vocalizing to myself. I can confidently and begrudgingly (lol) say you brought me out of my shell. And for that, along with everything else you've done, I am forever grateful.
