The big changes

My seventh grade year was big not only because of Coronavirus, but I found out who I am as a person. I stopped being the person others wanted me to be and was myself. I release myself from the cage I had been locked in, I had a few firsts this year. First move, first bunny, first college class, and the first steps towards getting the help I need.

Quarantine, Covid, and internet? Oh my!

Quarantine cut my last year in the 622 district short, for everyone it was unexpected and devastating. Moving to an online platform was a BIG adjustment for everyone, the 8th graders, and the people who will be moving schools next year (I included) never got a proper goodbye.

what I learned

Nope not school but life lessons, this year I learned that life isn't what it is,it is what you make it. The meaning of that is something so hard to describe, it is a feeling of hope that things will get better no matter how bad they may seem

John Green, Lin-Manuel, and Ben Platt.

quotes I learned to carry around with me are from those three people, Lin Ben and John. John once said "there is hope, even when your brain tells you there isn't." that helped me with some of my depression and voice in my head. Lin has a optimistic spirit and can always put a smile on your face. He once said on a interview "theatre is a beautiful living, breathing thing." I have always found Ben as a inspirational figure, he is so talented and is not afraid to be himself, his quote I love to carry with me is "the things that make you strange are the things that make you powerful." those are quotes I found this year and have brought with me along my life.

During quarantine I rebelled, I ran away from home and made it 4 towns over before I was found. I needed a thrill, a break, and an inspiration for a musical. As wrong as it may sound, I would do it all over again. I also stood up for so many people this year, at one point was a suicide hotline and went to college all without my parents knowing! Ok, that's not good but still.

It's Theatre not Theater

I have to say the best thing that happened to me this year was the love for theatre I had discovered. Not movie theaters but live shows with song and dance and sweet romance- oops sorry I broke out into song again, darn Something Rotten. Musicals are what are keeping me together and I have no idea how I lived without them. Well I haven't since I was five but now my love for musical theatre is stronger than anything.
