Paradise Lost is an epic poem that was first published in 1667. I decided to read it because I was curious about how and why the author retold the story from Genesis, and because it was an important book to Mary Shelley, the author of Frankenstein. The story is set in a time period directly before, during and after the creation of the first humans Adam and Eve, and most of the beginning of the story is set in a metaphysical realm of Hell after Satan is cast out of Heaven. Satan and his compatriots (demons who are considered gods by other ancient cultures) seem to be the main characters at the beginning, as they discuss their options and feelings after being cast out of Heaven.

A wolf called Wander (Mel M.)

A Wolf Called Wander is a nonfiction novel by Rosanne Parry. I chose this book because it has wolves and a lot of my other favorite animals. I also chose this book because Wander has an adventure and he is looking for the rest of his family. The book is mainly set in the mountains in discriminatory times. The main characters are Wonder, Sharp, Pounce, Wag, and Warm. They all get lost and some of the main characters die but some of them end up finding each other and then dying. There is another wolf that Wander finds and they end up having pups and staying together. One of Wanders's motivations is his brother and his father because they are trying to find each other again. He is trying to find his family. He is trying to impress his father and other wolves. He is trying to become the alfa of the wolves from his group. I noticed that the author wanted to have Wander looking for his family. I find the book to be informative, and insightful. A scene that moved me was when Wader found his brother and protected him from anything that came close to them. He would always try to find his brother every time he left. Some things I liked about the book are that there are a lot of good parts but there are also sad parts where Wander loses his family and searches for them. I think the author did really well was always having something going on with Wander, like if it was for him to lose his parents when he was younger and trying to impress his older siblings and younger siblings. My expectations were low at first but then I really enjoyed it and wanted another book to come out to make a sequel. I would recommend this book to people who love animals and who love adventure books. I would 100% recommend it to kids and teens.

This Was Our Pact by Ryan Andrews. This book is a graphic novel and was published in 2013. i enjoy reading graphic novels because the pictures help me understand better. Nathanial and Ben are the main characters and they are traveling together around the earth. The obstacle that they face is they get lost near the mountains and they have a hard time knowing where they are. Something I noticed about the author’s style is that he's very artistic on how he drew in the book. The characters also have a good descriptive of who they are. What I really liked about the book was the characters and the story.

The book is about Araminta Ross who was born a slave in Delaware in the early 19th century. Slavery meant that her family could be ripped apart at any time and that she could be put to work in dangerous places and for abusive people. I picked this book because Hazardous Tales has a good hand in teaching history. Something I noticed about the author’s style is that he put the past in a fun story and learned about slavery. I like the history aspect because it teaches about her family and how she was not the best at some form of work.

Thomas's independent reading The Shadow Out of Time by H.P. Lovecraft

The Shadow Out of Time is a science fiction horror novella written by H.P. Lovecraft published in 1936. I chose this book because I have some previous experience with Lovecraft's stories and have enjoyed many of them. The story takes place in various times in the early 1900s leading up to 1935 and takes place in various places most notably Massachusetts and Australia. the main character is Nathaniel Peaslee who for the past five year has been in a sort of coma but while he has been in that coma a hyper intelligent alternate personality has taken over his body and has been on a quest for knowledge while Nathaniel is asleep, both of the historical and scientific knowledge as well as the study of evil gods and dark magic. Wingate is Nathaniel's son and the only person to stay with him after his alternate personality awoke. Nathaniels main goal is to find what or who put him in a 5-year coma and took over his body. he also wants to put his mind at rest about the whole situation and find a concrete logical answer that he can accept and move on with his life. I enjoy Lovecraft's style of using classical Victorian phrasing and writing while at the same time describing very abhorrent imagery. for example, in chapter 3 he states "And meanwhile the Great Race itself waxed well-nigh omniscient, and turned to the task of setting up exchanges with the minds of other planets, and of exploring their pasts and futures. It sought likewise to fathom the past years and origin of that black, aeon-dead orb in far space whence its own mental heritage had come—for the mind of the Great Race was older than its bodily form." I really enjoyed the premodern writing style in his books. I also enjoyed the creativeness in designing and characterizing the alien race. finally, I enjoyed his references to other books that he has created.

This book I'm reading Science Fiction Stories and I'm on the first story called "The Boy, the Dog, and the Spaceship" by Nicholas Fisk. The short story of the book I'm reading is based on science fiction, and the book was first published in 1993. I was hoping to read this book of any science-fiction stories, like the first one at the beginning because there was a spaceship crashed on planet Earth.
The story is mainly set in the Earth's field in the time of the evening and night. The main characters in the story are the boy, Billy, his dog, Scamp, and the Captain of the spaceship that crashes into Earth. The young nine-year-old boy named Billy likes to play with his dog Scamp when they're running, rolling, and chasing in a field together. Meanwhile, the spaceship was heading directly to Earth because it had lost control. So the spaceship crash-landed on the grass near Billy and Scamp, but they did not see what had happened because the spaceship was so small. Scamp just heard something and smelled it with his nose which was marked by the dark trees. After the spaceship crash-landed, the captain was inside the cocoon and survived, but others didn't make it. The captain is alone and starts to experience this new place so that he can be disciplined and make his mind change and think about his plan of "conquest."
Something I noticed about the author's style is that the events of the story were very descriptive. It helps the readers to know and understand what kind of event tells so they can imagine the scene is clarified by the story's actions and description. So for an example from the above, it says "Scamp just heard something and smelled it with his nose which was marked by the dark trees. After the spaceship crash-landed, the captain was inside the cocoon and survived, but others didn't make it."
At the beginning of the story, I liked it when Billy and his dog Scamp were playing together outside on the field. Next, the tiny Captain was suffering inside the spaceship when it was about to crash-land on planet Earth for the first time. Lastly, I liked how the author wrote about the interaction when the three characters meet near the end of the story. The tiny Captain thought the boy was a tall monster, and the boy didn't realize the tiny Captain was controlling the dog's mind while he was inside his ear.

Lucky dog twelve Tales of Rescue Dogs (Mel M.)

Lucky Dog is a collection of stories about the Pawley Rescue Center. It takes place in a rescue center in New York. There are twelve different stories about dogs that get adopted in Pawley Center. I chose this book because I love dogs and there are many types of dog stories in the book. All of the dogs were getting adopted at the Pawley Rescue Center. A couple of conflicts in Who Wants A Dog are when Heather didn't want a dog and she and her sister were fighting about getting a dog or a bike. They had to win points to win the prize. Hannah wanted a dog and did a whole bunch of things to try to win buying a dog. Heather wanted to get a bike instead of a dog since she didn't like dogs. Hannah and Heather both argued for many days and Hannah won since Heather wanted to make her sister happy. In the end, Heather finally likes the dog. A conflict in Lab Partners is Barkley is six years old and he was in the Pawley Centre for a very long time. Martin is looking for a dog for his twelfth birthday. He asked his parents for a dog ever since he was four years old. This time for his birthday he didn't ask for a dog and his mom told him he was going to get a dog. In the end, the mom started to love Barkley. A couple of conflicts in Farfel is Quentin went to the Pawley Rescue Center and he worked there. There is a crossing guard that makes him stop and be late for work. Quentin went to the shelter to see Farfel every day after school. His mom wouldn't let him get a dog. His mom always got him clothes and all he wanted was a dog. His mom was always busy with work and didn't have time for Quentin. Quentin's dad was in the military so he never saw his dad. when he got home from school he Barley saw his mom and the only thing she would ask him was "How was school?" and he would just tell her the same thing every day: "Same old." He went back to the shelter to see Farfel but he wasn't there. Quentin was very upset and ran out the door. His mom bought him the puppy that he was going to after school. In the end, Quentin was very happy and hugged his mom to say thank you to her. Some of my favorite short stories from Lucky Dog are Lab Partners, Who Wants A Dog, Forfel, and Package Deal. All of the dog's motivations are trying to get adopted by people who come into the Pawley Center. I like how the authors make all of the dogs have conflict and have a sweet ending. I like how all of the authors made the endings supper sweet. I like how they have their own little stories about dogs getting adopted and finding their forever homes in the end. I feel like all of the small stories are realistic because a lot of shelters have dogs and are trying to find homes. I really like the book that has twelve short stories because a lot of things that happen can happen in real life. I would recommend this book for kids who love dogs. I feel like a lot of kids would love this book.

I'm continuing to read a grim dark fantasy manga named Berserk. It's about Gut's (the main character) adventures throughout a twisted world he is partly responsible for creating. One obstacle Gut faces is the demons that literally and metaphorically haunt him. They follow him because an old friend (Gritith) of his became one of the demon kings of his world, cursing him and each of the members of the army they led. This event was called the Eclipse. Gut's quote that resonates with me is "I'd rather fight for my life than live it" It hits me so hard because knowing his backstory he had no choice but to be what he became. Since he was a child he was used by higher powers as a warrior, like when he was 8 he was recruited as a mercenary by his father

White Fang is a fiction book by Dan Andreasen. I chose this book because it reminds me of another book I read. The book is set in the forest. The main characters are white Fang, a red dog, and men. White Fang's mom is a working dog and she ran away from her owners and didn't come back until a year later. One conflict is when white Fang leaves the cave and gets himself into some trouble. His mom went to find him after almost getting eaten by other wolves. The struggle for White Fang is that he gets himself into the pack where he is part of a sled dog sled and he is wondering why no one will go to him. some of the kids were scared of him but one man saw him and took him in and cared for him as he cared for his mom. The master would tend to beat the cub and his mom couldn't help her pup from getting hurt. His mom went on to a canoe and she never came back that broke white Fang's heart and he also became mean. He started to go into fights with the other dogs and he would get into some trouble. A man came near his tent and attacked the man. Another obstacle White Fang faced was not having a mom for a while and getting beaten by his owner if he did something wrong. He killed a dog while they were in a fight and no one was there to stop the fight. The whole pack left him since he was hiding from his owner. White Fang felt like he was abandoned. He also felt scared, cold, and hungry. He went back to his owner and he went out to get food and he killed Lip-lip and ate him. I liked how she made the book about trying to find food and she made the book very interesting. I like how she made White Fang into a fierce wolf and was able to go on his own while he found food. She made the people in the book fear him since he was a wolf.
I would recommend this book for 12 and up since it does have some sad parts and some scary parts.

It takes place near the edge of a strange lake. They go on an adventure to find the rest of the pack. Martha, who is the pack leader, tends to have a motherly instinct. her pack is in a big fight with another pack. A conflict in the book is when they get trapped in a cave and the water keeps rising and the water is freezing. One of the characters is trying to get everyone to get along. I really liked how Martha and her pack help the alfa who is in trouble. I would recommend this book for people who love animal books.

In the book, the wolf Wander is traveling around the earth and is trying to survive, but is looking for his pack. In the story, Wander the wolf's name is Swift, but he becomes the wolf called Wander, and also he encounters elk and ravens on his journey. In the story, the characters are Wander, who is the main character, the raven the elk, and the evil wolf pack. The conflict and struggle of the story is that wanders pack and the evil wolf pack don't like each other. wander what's to accomplish on being a smart wolf. “Something I noticed about the author’s style is that she really put a lot of detail into explaining the book like talking about the wolf Swift and what he's doing in the story like him looking for his pack and what he encounters on the way.

Survivors is a series about a pack of dogs that come together over time. This book is a survival fiction book by Erin Hunter. I chose this book because I couldn't just read the 5th book without reading the first book. Lucky is trying to find his way into the world and is finding it harder to be alone. He ends up in a pack with his sister and he becomes very close to them. I think people who love adventure books and love a good dog pack will love this book. I recommend it to people who love animals and any type of dog. A challenge for Lucky was to try to stay in the pack and not leave them to be on their own.

Survivors is a fiction book with a lot of adventures by Erin Hunter. This book is very good because it has a lot of adventure and action. It's in the woods of a mountain and a lake. Lucky is trying to find peace with the other pack and trying to get information about the wild pack. A conflict in the book is when Lucky has to go to the wild pack and try to spy on them and bring it back to his pack. Some of the other dogs were rude to Lucky and nipped at him. His motivation is trying to help his pack so they don't get into any trouble with other dogs. I like how the author chose to have Lucky as a spy in this book. I think she has made him one of the main characters in this book so far. Lucky went back to his pack to tell them what happened when he was with the other pack. He goes back to the other pack after he is done talking to his pack. Another conflict the dogs had to face was Whine telling on Lucky to his group of him being a traitor and spying on their pack for his pack. The pack starts to question Lucky and starts to feel hurt. I would recommend this book to people who love dogs and love adventure about animals. some dogs tend to die in the books. I like how the author puts a lot of different dogs in the books and how they have their adventures. I liked how the dogs could communicate in the books and how the dogs could say what they wanted. I would recommend this book to 10 and up since there are a lot of sad parts in the book.

This book I'm reading Science Fiction Stories, and I'm on the third story called "The Dragon of Pendor" by Ursula Le Guin.

There was a young mage wizard named Ged, or Sparrowhawk, who had been trained in magic to become a brilliant wizard. He is sent to Pendor Island to work magic for the people and to rid them of dragons that prey upon them.

The next morning, Sparrowhawk told the fishermen that he must leave this place now to face danger with the dragons. As soon as he left the island to seek the dragon's deadly isle, the young wizard guided his small boat to wizardly sail westward with his magewind spell. But when the wizard heard waves and steaming clouds on the north wind, he suddenly went west quickly to sail to the sight of the rocks of Pendor of the ruins, then shouted summoned, "Usurper of Pendor, come defend your hoard!". The dragons have keen ears: the young dragon flitted upward to the sky from some roofless ruin of the town, circling into the north wind, and came flying toward Ged. But the wizard was nothing afraid but his confidence to laugh and shouted, "Go tell the Old One to come, you wind-worm!", as he referred to the old dragon.

This is something I noticed about the author's style is that he wants the main character to become foreseeable. The story of the book is very descriptive.

At the beginning of the book, I like when the narrator reads how Sparrowhawk uses magic to help the people and defend their island. I was amazed he was so brave while looking forward to seeing the big dragon. I think probably what I like is that when Ged has to go on an early mission in departure, the dragons won't come to cease their island.

It takes place in a strange and colorful world that at first glance seems almost dreamlike but in reality, is one of the darkest mangas I've read. We follow the main character Monkey D Luffy and his crew The Straw Hats, They are Pirates who wish to claim the treasure left by the Mythical Pirate Gol D Rodger, The treasure He left behind was named the One Piece.

The World One Piece takes place in is a very diverse one both on the islands it takes place in and the people who inhabit it. Let's start with the places, In One Piece The world is split into half seas by a massive continent named the Redline, the world is further divided by a large unsalable part of the ocean named the Calm Belt, but in the middle of the calm belt there's a place named the Grand line. The grand line consists of a chain of Uniqie islands many having kingdoms

Survivors is a fiction book with a lot of adventures by Erin Hunter. This book is mostly near a lake near a mountain. There is a lot of adventure and a lot of wild things happening. I liked this book because it has a lot of animals like foxes. I enjoyed reading Lucky got to go on an adventure to a new place with his pack and the pack he betrayed. One conflict in the book is when Lucky is trying to find his way back to the city. Another conflict in the book occurs when Lucky and Mickey go into the forest and they hear yelps from a couple of puppies near the house and find out that both the mother and one puppy are dead. The puppies seek help from Lucky and Mickey. I would recommend this book to someone who loves animals and loves animal adventures. I think Lucky's motive in the book was trying to find the pack and try to get the puppies to go with the pack so they wouldn't be alone and try to die in the wild with no one to help them. I noticed that the author likes to make animals in the book try to figure out what they are missing. One thing I liked about the book was that the puppies and Daisey were on an adventure and teaching them what to do. In the end, Lick came back but she was badly injured and she told the pack that the fierce dogs killed her brother and let grunt stay alive.

The Storm of Steel is about World War 1. and it goes into a lot of detail about what happened during that time period. When I just started reading the first page of the book, I liked how the author has described some of the stuff during that period of time. I would highly recommend this book to people because people who are interested in history might like it. I think this story can appeal to the fans of the movie 1917 because that's about World War 1 also. The setting of the story is in Germany and other parts of the world, and it talks about what the soldiers were experiencing during their rough times in the war. What they were talking about was the food that they were eating and also them trying to survive so they don't die. What I've read recently in the book talks about the stuff that got destroyed in the war, such as the roads sinking, crops getting destroyed, and the way the soldiers slept. It also talks about the weapons the soldiers used and the ammunition they had.

The story is set in 1930s fictional Arkham, Massachusetts in an old house. The main character Walter Gilman is a student of mathematics and folklore at Miskatonic University. The story centers around Walter Gilman living in the titular Witch house and being sent dreams of far-off places by the witch of the house and her dark god. One conflict the main character faces is the constant dreams that he has at night. the dreams he experiences shatter his way of thought about the universe and eventually drive him to the brink of madness. The writer writes in a way that makes you anticipate things to happen before they happen, so it feels even better when it does. I enjoyed the many scenes of the witch materializing in a cloud of purple smoke. I feel that this book compared to other books the author has written is more action oriented than others and much more scary. I thought the story of the book was very good with a lot of different locals around Arkham and the universe. I think people who enjoy the idea of alternate dimensions or space travel will enjoy this book to a fault.

This book is a series about a group of dogs in a pack. there are a lot of adventures. The settings take place in the forest and the grassland. The main characters are very different from each other. Some of the characters don't get aling and get into a lot of fights. a conflict in the book is having Lick be accepted in the pack and she is trying to fit in since she is a fierce dog. The main point of the story is having all of them be able to fit in with one another. In the book Lick is trying to challenge Alfa but Lucky is interfearing. Later in the book one of the pack mates tries to challenge alpha. I would recommend this book for people who love animals and love adventures. i really like this book because it has a lot of animals in it and a lot of adventures with other dogs. some of the animals die in the books and a lot of them tend to get hurt a lot. Lick finally gets to choose her name after she kills Terror and helps free the other animals. They get to do a special ceremony for lick and she chooses her name to be Storm.

Finding Gobi is a true story about a man named Dion Leonard who travels across the world and he is going to travel across the Gobi desert. He was born in Sydney, New South Wales, but he grew up in an Australian outback town in Queensland called Warwick. He lives in Edinburgh, Scotland and he has a wife named Lucja. In chapter one Dion stopped racing for a while because he was having heart and kidney problems when he didn't drink enough water. When he was 9 his dad died from an asthma attack. He has a little sister who is 3 years old. When he got older he started to do races with his wife and he started to get anxious when it was time to go across the Gobi desert. In chapter four Dion's mom told him to move out and he went into the basement and he started to sleepwalk when he was sleeping. He became anxious about doing a race with his wife and he lost. Near the end of the chapter he sees a dog that is searching for food and he decides to give him some food. The dog doesn't stop following Dion. He named the dog Gobi and the dog got to be around him all day and night. The dog didn't have a home but she loves to run in the wild. Gobi follows Dion in the race and sleeps near him at night. Dion got to do the Gobi desert and he helped a friend who was dehydrated and weak from the sun and the 110-degree heat. He wants to keep Gobi but now he doesn't know where he is and wants to know how the little dog is doing. He goes back to his home and he realizes that someone has Gobi and he starts to get worried about when he will be able to come home. Dion Lenard created a go find me page to help find Gobi. People from all around the world would donate money to help him find Gobi. He used the money to travel back to find Gobi. They found Gobi and it was hard to be able to get back to their home. After they reunited he was annoyed about people coming to take gobi. I would recommend this book for people who love true storys about animals.

This is a novel by Victoria Schade. She writes a lot of other types of books about animals for little kids. In the book, Elizabeth Barnes is about to get fired for saying something bad about the company. She got a phone call and her uncle she never heard of was telling her to come to Fargrove to get to know her uncle and aunt. She goes there and she starts to fall in love with a guy named James. Her aunt falls and breaks her arm so she isn't able to do a lot of things with her arm. She found a dog in the middle of the woods when it was raining. She didn't know how to take care of a puppy but she knew William would know how. A conflict in the book is when Elizabeth wants to go home but she doesn't want to leave his family. Elizabeth was very sad about the news that her dad killed the baby her uncle and aunt were going to have in a car accident. She was painting with her uncle and she saw a painting of her aunt that her uncle painted. I would recommend this book to people who can handle a couple of cuss words and a lot of family drama.
