Firstly that these young kids even had the thought to do this let alone actually act upon it, and also that they would take advantage of a disabled child in a such a horrible way. This is an embarrassing occurrence and it needs to be stopped. Obviously the parents of the children who did this horrible act do not understand how bad it is if they are making up excuses and backing what the children had done to this poor, innocent child. No children or person of any age

The text makes the reader feel angered and disgusted at the short, unfair sentences and punishments the children received. The victim was brutally attacked and these children committed a crime most would find unbelievable by children of such a young age. This crime, although committed by children was of an adult nature. The young victim was defenceless and frightened and the attackers were fully aware that they could easily manipulate him straight to the worst moment of his life. However, if the attack and physical scars left on the victims body were not enough to remind him everyday about how cruel children could be, he has flashbacks reminding him everyday. He has a permanent reminder of the brutal event that almost ended his life. The teenagers who attacked him are all finished with their sentences. They can just forget about that one moment in their lives. They have no reason anymore to remember the awful attacks that they created. One f the teenagers mothers has come out and stated that the boy who attacked suffered some bullying at his school. It is a wonder where children have seen this and learnt this from and how "Society is going down the pan". On an even more serious note, it is appalling how the parents of the children responsible for their act of violence are making excuses and blaming the system, to make what there kids have done look appropriate and acceptable. Especially for the oldest girl, who only got 15 months in detention hopefully, in the future, she will be unable to work with children.
It is not uncommon for murderers and serial killers to have histories of violence and attempted murder in their past, many notorious killers began their tormenting at ages as young as eight years old, they tortured animals and pets and there are many cases of them beating and murdering neighbourhood children and even friends. In conclusion we both agree that the perpetrators should have faced greater punishments and the mother of the thirteen year old boy should not have blamed 'the system' in order to excuse her colds actions.

They got very little punishment and as result, could think that these sort of actions are okay and not much will happen to them. These children will also now have trouble finding a job. The girl who wanted to work with children will have so much trouble getting a Working with Children’s Permit as she has beaten up and hurt a child in the past, making her very untrustworthy. Any reasons the parents have given to try to justify their child’s behaviour will not help with their future, as they were plain excuses and only blame others, when clearly, it was just the savage behaviour that live within them and could possibly return to them within the future. Just because he has disabilities and has a mental age of 7, does not mean that people should take advantage of him because he is an ‘easy target’. To treat someone in such an inhumane way because he is different and cannot comprehend in such a way that most neurotypical people will understand. What wakes you up in the morning and makes you go “I want to ring my friends and go bash a disabled person just so I can feel secure in myself.” Also with the mother, she should not be justifying the behaviors. He is 14 and smoking, attempting to murder someone and treating them like an animal and you are there saying “Oh he is bullied at school because he has mental problems”. Why not say “We have acknowledged that our son is in such a wreck, and, we send out our sincerest apologies to the family and the boy, and have decided to enrol our student into a boarding school” or something along the lines. In a way I also blame the parents for such terrible parenting.
