Thousands of shops markets line the narrow streets with vendors and peddlers yelling all around. People, camels, and donkey walk and run through the streets and allies, the activity never stops. 

Cairo is home to many mosques, colleges, hospitals, and convents, with most housing the poor. The abundance of these buildings are thanks to amirs! They compete with each other in charity work and housing those in need. Cairo is very thoughtful to their needy and sick, their practices of medical care is exceptional! Without any money or means, I relied on the goodwill of my fellow pilgrims and the safety of the caravan to reach the Holy Land. I will never forget the men who succumbed to illness before completing the Sacred Journey. I was blessed enough to survive the trip first to Medina and pray to Allah for four days at the mosque. Finally, the caravan arrived in the Holy Land, and I nearly fell to my knees in awe.

Such a holy city! The diversity and beauty of the Islamic people is shown as Muslims from all around come to kiss the Kaaba and pray to Allah. My  #HajjandBeyond journey is just beginning; I wanted to visit Mecca, and I'm so glad I have finally done so. Participating in all these rituals and showing my devotion to Allah is such a blessing.  After three revitalizing weeks of worship, study, and visits I am proud to emerge to the status of al-Hajji.

I expected a tyrant, but met a most gracious man (and 2,000 silver dinars). His people, too, are courteous. I was greeted with great respect upon my arrival, provided with all that I would need to live a comfortable lifestyle as a judge. 

The Sultan has bestowed two assistants to use for work. However, how could one want to work in such a beautiful city? I much prefer the company of the Sultan and his officials. I must admit to being captivated by the extravagance and opulence of it all...   Nevertheless, I am not so naïve as to think that this is not a pretty illusion. Whenever I step into the filthy streets of commoners, I can feel the tension between the Muslims and Hindu people through this painstaking transition from unfaithful pagans to Allah.

I felt welcome the second I stepped foot inside, and after such a long journey here, that was exactly what I needed. Showered with food and luxuries, the people of Mali new how to treat an adventurer!

I observed a public ceremony as an audience with the sultan Mansa Sulayman. How fun it was! Beautiful music played and displays of the culture was so amazing. The men here are so devoted to Islam and their culture, it's admirable. The women however walk around barely clothed, even in front of the Sultan! Though the vivid landscape is certainly beautiful, its people are not. It had been a long 40 day journey, and I had only wanted to find sanctuary with my fellow worshippers. However, everywhere I looked, I faced paganism and idol worship! These barbarians burn their dead, worship fake idols, and stoop so low as to eat swine and dogs. I finally managed to find my kinsmen, yet only in major seaports. Despite these hardships, I forge on in the name of Muhammad, our prophet. He encouraged learning in places as far as China, and it is what I will do. 
 Despite this clear defiance of Allah, China has its pleasures as well. The lucrative silk industry is apparent, clothing both the rich and poor. Their fine porcelain craftsmanship is the finest I've seen thus far. I've never once felt unsafe in this country, and I do believe that those intending to travel here will feel the same.
