The relevevance here is that while there are systemic challeges that still exsist with addiction and mental health issues, being unhoused is also a situational issue as well; a paycheck or two away from being unhoused, as well as the financial climate (laid-off) or even an enviromental disaster; wildfire, severe earthquake and even a building issue with water or fire damage that would cause one to evacuate. Because every situation is different, to have that human element from us makes a huge difference in where we can give hope to someone that lost that (thank you, Eileen). I really liked hearing about the positive and negative experiences people had with social media. The reality is that social media plays a huge role in all of our lives and can take a toll on our mental health. But social media is also a great way for us to remain connected. The 2020 pandemic should be enough evidence to show the positive effects social media can have. I spent hours with my friends on zoom calls and connecting with them over Twitter and Instagram. Mental health is very important, but it was brought up that Kaiser did not do a good job when working with people who needed assistance. Universal Health Care is a great question, but Sean posed the question of what health care is. Does this support eyes, teeth, and diet? Why are vision and dental not seen as health care? The public vs private question regarding health care is a question that has equal detractors on both sides.
