Evaporation is considered the first stage of the Water cycle. Evaporation occurs when the sun heats the water in lakes, oceans and rivers, and turns it into steam that rises into the sky. During Evaporation, water, which is a liquid, turns into a gas called water vapor. Keep in mind, you can't see water vapor because it's invisible! In the next stage, this water vapor will be collected to form clouds.

After Evaporation comes Condensation. The water vapor continues to rise and it cools while doing so. During Condensation, the water vapor turns back into a liquid from a gas through cooling so that tiny water particles form and collect in clouds. Clouds are formed from the water particles during this stage.

Precipitation is the last stage of the water cycle. When the water droplets in the clouds become too heavy and they fall back to the earth in the form of rain, snow, hail or sleet, which is called precipitation. Then, the cycle repeats all over again continuously!
