Saint Cecily patroness of musicians was a Roman noblewoman, who decided to convert to Christianity. Very little is known about her, we believe that she was born in Rome, and married a man named Valerio against her will. On her wedding night she told her husband that she had consecrated her virginity to God, thus she managed to get her husband to also convert to Christianity, that shortly afterwards the three, the slain and Saint Cecilia, would be sentenced to death in the baths of her own house, trying to drown her with steam without succeeding, finally they hired an executioner to cut off her head: the story says that he dropped his ax on her three times without succeeding, so she fled, leaving her bloody but alive, although she was badly injured and finally died three days later.

WHY IS SANTA CECILIA PATRON OF MUSICIANS IN REALITY?

The true story about why Saint Cecilia is the patron saint of musicians is because at some point the translator interpreted the acts of martyrdom that told the death of Saint Cecilia in the wrong way. In the fragment that narrates the moment when the Romans tried to suffocate her in the baths of their house, the phrase reads: Candéntibus órganis Caecilia Dómino decantábat dicens…, in which it refers to some object with which they fanned the furnace of the hot springs to provoke a suffocating steam. The word órganis

it was translated as organ in the wrong way and that is why Saint Cecilia is usually represented playing that instrument.

Other explanations are:

It took more than a thousand years for Cecilia to be proclaimed the patron of musicians. In 1594, Papa Gregorio XIII named her patron saint of musicians and music, since he said that she had shown an irresistible attraction to the melodious chords of instruments, her sensitive and passionate spirit for this art thus turned her name into a symbol of the music.

Another explanation is that according to this young woman at her wedding, while the musicians played, she dedicated herself to singing to God in her heart. It is important to know that she did not want to marry, if not that her parents have agreed to it and thus the obligation.
