Throughout the series, Will travels across the land to defend Araluen from advancing threats. The overarching plot involves the battle against the evil Morgarath, who seeks to overthrow the kingdom.

Through the lands, he sees just how war can affect everyone around it. Famine, Drought, Slavery, Drained Resources, and most importantly, distrust.

There's also a fight in Eastern Ukraine with some people wanting to be more independent from Ukraine, and Russia is said to be helping them. Some groups have tried to make peace agreements, but things are still complicated.

For the Rangers Apprentice, Morgarath fights to take over the land and rule over everyone. The kingdom of AruIn real life, Russia and Ukraine are fighting over their land, and who rightfully owns what.

Resources are a significant driver of human conflicts throughout history. In addition to religious differences, competition for essential resources like food, water, building materials, and oil has played a crucial role in sparking conflicts. This dynamic is evident in various contexts, including the invasion of Iraq by Iran.

The Iran-Iraq War (1980-1988) is a prime example of a conflict made purely by resource competition. One key resource at the center of the conflict was oil. Both Iran and Iraq possessed substantial oil reserves, and control over these resources was a primary motive for the war. The Shatt al-Arab waterway, a strategic river forming the border between the two countries, was another critical resource in contention.

Both nations sought to secure economic advantages and strategic dominance in the region. Iraq, led by Saddam Hussein, viewed Iran's Islamic revolution as a threat and aimed to assert its influence in the Gulf. The war saw battles for control over key oil-producing areas, such as the Khuzestan Province in Iran. The conflict had devastating consequences, resulting in a significant loss of life and economic resources for both countries.

In "The Ranger's Apprentice" book series by John Flanagan, the themes of conflict over resources and strategic locations are also seen here, although in a fictional and medieval setting. The books primarily follow the protagonist, Will Treaty, as he trains to become a ranger, a skilled and resourceful warrior tasked with protecting the kingdom of Araluen.

Throughout the series, conflicts arise not only due to ideological differences (as seen with Morgarath and his religious following) but also because of territorial disputes and the competition for essential resources. The battles and skirmishes often involve attempts to secure key locations, protect valuable resources, or put the plans of the Evil Morgarath to an end.

examples in regards to the French Wars of Religion (1562-1598) where Catholics and Protestants engaged in a prolonged conflict resulting in three million casualties. The talk suggests that understanding the role of religion in fueling conflicts is crucial for promoting peace and avoiding devastating wars.

This book dives into the complex history of the American Civil War. The causes are disagreements over various things, including the economy, government policies, practices, values, and, the obvious one, the issue of slavery.

In my anchor text, Morgarath disagrees with the kingdoms rules and politics, and starts a war.

The story mirrors the real historical tensions by opposing the established rules and politics of the kingdom. This opposition becomes a catalyst for war, showing that anything can escalate into larger conflicts.

other people have to go through really puts in prospective just how good we have it as first world countries. If you have a roof over your head and a plate of food once a day, you’re doing better than eighty five percent of the world’s population.

So sometimes you should sit back, relax, and be thankful for what you are given.
