2. The law of three stages: The law of three stages is an idea developed by Auguste Comte in his work The Course in Positive Philosophy. It states that society as a whole, and each particular science, develops through three mentally conceived stages: (1) the theological stage, (2) the metaphysical stage, (3) the positive stage
3. Key Principles of functionalism:
Functionalism, in social sciences, theory based on the premise that all aspects of a society—institutions, roles, norms, etc. —serve a purpose and that all are indispensable for the long-term survival of the society.
4. social facts: a thing originating in the institutions or culture of a society that affects the behavior or attitudes of an individual member of that society.
5. Social solidarity: emphasizes the interdependence between individuals in a society, which allows individuals to feel that they can enhance the lives of others. It is a core principle of collective action and is founded on shared values and beliefs among different groups in society

2.The Law of three stages is the corner stone of Auguste Comte’s approach. Comte’s ideas relating to the law of three stages reveal that man is becoming more and more rational and scientific in his approach by gradually giving up speculations, imagination etc. He has shown that there is a close association between intellectual evolution and social progress. The law of three stages is the three stages of mental and social development.
3.Social structures consist of norms and values and exist independently from individuals. We should study society scientifically and be able to develop general laws that explain and predict human action. Society needs to be analyzed as a system. Social institutions generally perform positive functions. 
Example: If all the systems in society are functioning in harmony, it will remain healthy.
