The eyes throughout the evolution change. During the 1st stage Mudkips eyes are black. But when Mudkip evolves into Marshtomp his eyes turn orange and stay orange throughout the rest of the evolution.

Mudkip's fins get bigger with him to help him move through water faster.

In the second evolution, he has a bigger top fin and then in the third evolution he has 2 fins instead of 1. He has this because as he is moving through the water he needs to have something that pushes the water away from him.
