Georgia’s spirit

Few month passed after my last trip, it was 15th country which I visited. There won’t so many countries which I want to visit twice, but Georgia is totally different. In this blog I want to share with you my feelings maybe make some advertisement, describe all interesting things and give some tips about the most beautiful places.

A little bit about geographic, Georgia is a small county in Caucasia region, it has access to the Black sea and Caucasian mountains on all length. It is known about beach rest and have warm climate. At the same time this county will be interesting for people who like winter sports, cause local mountains are higher then 3000 m and have snow cover more than 6 month a year.

Some brief information how get to Georgia, there is 3 ways: 1. By car it is around 1600 km and you need transit through Russian territory one of the benefit it's beautiful view on Caucasian mountains which you cross during your travel. 2. By ship from the Odesa or Chornomorsk. 3. And the most convenient way is by plane, it takes around 3 hours and if you book tickets in advance it can by quite cheaper than 2 previous solutions. For Ukrainian no need visa and you can stay there for 90 days in half year, also now you can enter Georgia by new ID card, no need foreign passport.

Next let’s think what first thing came in your mind when heard Georgia? For me it’s simple wine and cuisine. So my advice if you just come from airport first need go to some café or restaurant and try local food it really more tastier than dishes from Georgian’s restaurants in Ukraine perhaps because it made with Georgian soul . Also there is huge variety of wines, originally a lot of farmers used their own way of producing wine it is different form French or Italian. I don’t think that I have enough time to describe all feeling about wine testing, but if you interesting about this please write in in comments and I will prepare separate blog about Wine culture of this beautiful country.

Brief plan for tourists which find time to visit Georgia for one week. First discover the capital Tbilisi, spend for it 2-3 days. Then you can take some sightseeing tour to Kazbeg, Aalazani valley, Kutaisi, Batumi or Borjomi, but if you have driver license suggest you take car for a rent then you have opportunity to see more interesting and beautiful places (don’t forget about driving rules and speed limit, we got few fines because of it).

For sure this is only small piece of my emotions and not always you can find right way how share you emotions. But I hope it will be useful for some readers. So please don’t forget to follow my blog and ask questions in the comments also please tell me what is your favorite country.

"Irony of Fate", salad "Olivier", beloved relatives, "New Year's light" on the TV. Probably everyone who reads this now can say that it was already in his life on the New Year. Therefore, it is time to break the stereotypes about the usual conduct of this holiday. Today we consider few new ways to spend an unforgettable New Year below.

1. The first way is to buy a ticket and fly to hot countries where they also celebrate the New year. No matter which location you choose for your New Year's journey: adventures in European cities, beach holidays, ski resorts, or something else, there will be enough impressions for a whole year.
2. The second way is to devote a New Year's night only to yourself. So you can take stock of last year, set goals for the next, or just make a wish.

The action plan may be as follows:
- Prepare a lot of small souvenirs or sweets, go outside and give them out to passersby. So you will certainly be waiting for the same pleasant surprises in the new year.
- Write a note with the wishes of good, love and wealth and put them on the mailboxes of neighbours.
- After the chiming clock with a shout "Hurray!" start throwing unnecessary things out of the windows. This will help make room for the new in the literal and figurative sense.))
- Come to the shop or pharmacy and drink wine with sellers.

If you get tired of loneliness - you can change cardinally your plans: ring the door to strangers, say that you are alone, and ask to spend New Year's Eve with them. Risky, but how much adrenaline!

3.The third way is the most romantic.
It is worth at least once to meet the New Year in the forest or on the bank of a frozen river. You are guaranteed an incredible silence and the absence of any irritants.
And if you are an adherent of home comfort - then fill the bath and celebrate the New Year with your loved one and a glass of champagne. Romantic and easy!

It is your choice how to spend this New Year. Be spontaneous, be prepared for surprises, give warmth to loved ones. And I hope that my post will help you come up with something creative for this evening!

Happy New Year, everyone!
Lora

Some interesting facts about Berlin

I’ve been to Berlin this winter and I found some interesting facts about that city.

It is a huge city, which is bigger that Kiev and you cannot just spend a day walking the center and keep filing that you saw all interesting there. You even do not recognize where the center starts.

Because of its size, the city is striped with canals and rivers. In fact, Berlin has more canals than any other city in the world.

There were actually two Berlin walls. In between the two walls lay a terrible 140m “death strip” that was secured with guard towers, tripwires, and soldiers with shoot-to-kill order on any trespassers. There must be a buffer zone between devoted sides, and to implement this there were two walls created.

There are many places where you can see a history and one of them, which has happened not so ago, is the Hotel Adlon, where Michael Jackson showed his.

There are different tricky ATMs. You can by a gold or shoes just as a coffee. Of visit a dancing phone booth.

It is a city of museums as well. You will never visit all of them if you are here only for a weekend and unfortunately, all of them are interesting and interactive. Therefore, you need to find that you are interesting not to waste your time on less preferred places.

In addition, the last thing I want to share is prices is shops. They are all the same or even less than in Ukraine. Where else can you find a 1 kg of Nuttella only for 4 euros as not in Berlin?

There are some interesting facts from my trip.

STUDY ABROUD

Study abroad is the most popular dream of many young people in Ukraine.

It could depend on a low level of education at the most universities in Ukraine.

I`ve had the opportunity to study abroad. I would say, it had definitely changed my life. I was already adult, I had a position at The General Stab of Ukrainian Armed Forces and I learned German at Goethe Institute Kyiv in cooperation with Armed Forces Austria. As the best student I was invited to study at the National Military Academy in Vienna.

At first I had to learn German at an international class. 14 military officers from different countries of ex-east block were my classmates. But after two weeks at the class I was offered to change my class into a tactic course for Austrian officers. The reason was, that my factually German level was higher than the level is going to be after the study. It was a sudden and pleasant turn and I surely accepted it.

So I studied with the colleagues from Austria and Swiss. We lived in a hotel by the Academia such in the center of Vienna. The accommodation was very well. I stayed at a single room with a bathroom, a bed, a wardrobe and a little fridge.

I usually went for a walk after class, so I visited all of sightseeing in the city center. Moreover, I travelled a lot with our class around whole Austria. I`ve visited a great deal of museums, ancient buildings, churches etc. Finally I`ve gotten many friends and acquaintances. There were the pros of study abroad.

The cons are there too but they couldn’t be decisive if there aren`t any problems with finance and health.

The drawback is a long period of time without family, friends. As disadvantage too I would call the situation, when a student learns in a class, where the other classmates are from one country, so the student feel a certain part of time like a stranger.

On balance I would suggest studying abroad. In my mind, there is a sense to use all of possibilities for study abroad if an opportunity will be.

5 ways to fail event

When you prepare events unexpected things always happen. How you don’t try to avoid that, its happen. Today we consider popular flops and how to avoid them.

1. SPONSORSHIP

How is it possible to forget about the main Sponsor? Yes, it is. One day we forgot to place logo of the main Partner on brand wall. It was a bummer. But we must have changed situation immediately. How? We can’t have hidden that, we proposed other marketing options and extra benefits during and after the event.
You should be responsible for your actions.

2.REGISTRATION

Early registration was started, but we found out that we didn’t have few types of badges for delegates, because typography had forgotten to print them. We found 24 hour typography and ordered badges. We apologized to visitors and explained situation.

You should be honest with clients.

3. STAGE

Imagine. I need one main stage in the morning and then scene must been turned into 2 scenes. 10 hours left before event and I am informed that main stage can’t be to share on twice as I need, because constructors built stage close to wall. But it was not mistake of constructors, because representative of hotel had given me incorrect information about placement of stage in the hall. Actually, we were shocked, but we managed to cope with emotions and tried to solve the task promptly. I required hotel to provide us one else hall for second stage. Then I called constructor and asked to help me to build one else scene. Then I revised emails with hotel’s manager, convinced that it was him mistake and required to get extra hall for free. Finally, we get hall complimentary.

Firstly, you should solve problem, then find out who made mistake.

4. INTERPRETEURS

Once we had event and after lunch we understood that we didn’t hear translation (50% of visitors are foreigners). We called them and they said that we had arrangements until lunch. Then we were waiting, when they come back.

You should double-check arrangements with contractors one day before event.

5. CONTRACTORS

It’s my favorite point. I try working with loyal contractors, but sometimes they make mistakes, because it’s human factor. What happened? Designer forgot to launch for printing our badges, typography mixed up front and back sides of notebooks, hotel’s manager gave incorrect layout of hall and etc. What I mean, all your arrangements must been clarified and written by emails, it’s important.

You should control your contractors.

Hope, post will be useful for you. Please, write in comments, what fails did you have.

by Violetta Cheban

Keep up with football

Truthfully speaking I have never been interested in sports. But when I met my husband something changed for me. When he was a little boy he decided to be a great football player. But his parents were totally disagree. So he became a football player with economic education. Now he finds time to play everywhere and every time. And I am his favorite cheerleader.
When he is ill it’s hard to work but it’s easy to play football. He can’t find time to meet someone but he can play football. We need to go back earlier to Kiev from the best weekend ever to play football. We move to another city in 500 km to take part in a football tournament after friends wedding at 12 PM by bus because we are drunk.

When you are a wife of a football player:

- you need to select a separate drawer in the dresser for a large number of football uniforms of different teams

- your washer works every day

- you need to have at least three extra towels for rush situations

- your flat is full of sand every summer and you can’t do anything with this

- you have to remember a timetable of your husband

- it’s better to attend at least one game a month to support your champion

- you bought football shoes and uniform with your husband more often then you bought a new dress for yourself

- you know the most popular football halls and grounds in your city

- you need to find a place for a net with balls not only in your flat but also in the trunk of your car.

So it’s only up to you either choose a football player as a husband or not. But as for me it’s like a festival, like an amazing adventure when you don’t know where you will cheer for football team the next time either in Odessa or even abroad.

By Anastasia Kurovska

Hey everyone! I’d like to talk with you about smell of love. Do you know how many theories are there about beginning of romantic relationship? Why do we choose exactly that one specific person among many people? You may think that it depends on appearance or social level or communication skills or something else... sure, that’s one of looking at it, however physician take a different view. During last years research about the major histocompatibility complex (MHC) is being carried. It is a set of cell surface proteins essential for the acquired immune system to recognize foreign molecules and other antibodies. MHC is affecting smell of human’s body and that which smells person prefers. So here’s where it gets really interesting, the more different MHCs are, the more people attract each other. Evolution uses it to select as much as possible distinction between parents’ genes and make the most optimal variant of genes of offsprings. So in conclusion, I’d like to say it’s just our erroneous suggestion that we choose partners by brain or heart. In fact, that “tink” which we call “to fall in love” is simply activity of protein stuff on ours cell surface.

What do you like about traveling the most? To me traveling is an impressive process that starting from choosing countries, making up the rout to exploring new cultures, and of course meeting people from all over the world.

The second layer are challenges, new knowledge and skills that you obtain when you travel. Also, traveling is a big possibility to get out of the box and expand the borders of your mind. However, the most impressive thing is that
you never know what the adventures are waiting for you the next day.

Keep reading the post and you will get to know my story.

Only a few days remained till my New Year vacation, which we were going to spend in Spain and Portugal.
I was so excited to preparing the last things for the trip when it is found out that my friend got ill so she had to delay her fly and change a fly booking. Be frankly, for me it was very unexpectedly and made me quite upset. I had no choice as
set up my mind on the way that everything will be okay.

I traveled to Barcelona 1 year ago so I've known the city well. This time my flight landed after midnight, in spite of this I found myself pretty confident in the night city. I successfully got to my hostel. Next two days I have had to spend alone with myself.

In my first day I was walking randomly, contemplated
Gaudí architecture, ate fruits at Bouqeria market... Certainly, I felt extra-responsibility because I could
rely on myself only: buying tickets, using navigator, be attentive enough just to be safe from pickpockets at La Rambla.

I was wandering around my favorite park Ciutadela with the wonderful fountains and sculptures.

You know what? I've never felt myself as far from problems, work errands, people and even my thoughts as at that time. I was relaxing, catching sun rays, feasting all the greenest around.

You may be surprised because I didn't even feel alone that day, but enjoyed my freedom.

Fortunately, I booked free walking tour and It was my plan for the next day. In the morning, I met with our international group and guide, who came to Barcelona to study architecture. I highly recommend you to try Free walking tour when you travel around Europe.

We were exploring the Gothic quoter - the oldest part of the city. For some period of time there were living and creating such a famous person as Pablo Picasso and
John Orwell. There is also one of the famous church of St.Evlalia. You will open up another side of Barcelona - medieval grey area with its narrow and tangled streets.

Right after the tour I got a message from my friend from Cauchsurfing and I accepted the invitation for a coffee. I recommend you to use the program regardless you travel alone or with friends. If you are into meeting with travelers from all over the world, register and you will have fun for sure.

The sun was shining when we met near the fabulous port of Barcelona. We grabbed delicious Mexican food and beer on the sun-drenched terrace, just like locals.

I mentioned about my plan to go to Montjuic Mountain later. I hadn't expected that my new acquaintance would love to join me. Then we took a car, following the serpentine path, finally, reached to the top. We had a breathtaking view of Barcelona surrounded mountain at one side and the sea at another side. The atmosphere was so romantic and we agreed to meet up in the evening.

In a few hours, we were observing the night illuminated city view from 20+ floor. We took a motorbike, drove to the famous street full of tapas bars and tasted local wine, which calls cava, with variety of snacks.
It seemed this day never ends.

That was only two days of my adventure-full trip. After then my got round friend joined me in Barcelona. Next ten days we were traveling and getting fun together.

The main thing is that the
solo-traveling turned up a new experience for me. Just then, I realized how to be in harmony
with yourself when you don't expect anything outside.

<var>By Diana Bushchuk</var>
