brown as the dirt 

or hazel like the nut

my appearance is fluffy, fuzzy or frizzy 

my laziness makes me look like a rock

I spend my days laying in grassy meadows 

letting the bugs buzz around my bulging eyes

you can smell me from...                                                                                                                        a mile away 

though I don't seem to notice 

I am a fountain that provides protein 

And some people consider me holy

but I really can't do much

My tongue is like 

sandpaper

I sleep a lot and get 

spunky

 after 

I can

 jump

 almost as high as a kangaroo 

I feel my spongy paws against the fluffy carpet 

I 

meow

 as loud as I can to be heard. 

I am a part of a 

huge

 family.

I see white strings coming out of my face.

My little pink nose is wet to the touch. 

My humans talk in a baby voice to me. 

Blows between my burgundy petals

I look at the tree branches swaying in the distance

Waving me “Good morning”

 I soak in the last drops of the morning dew

 Hoping to bloom to my full potential

 I wait for the sun to wake up 

To feed and warm me

And give me life

 

Now that I have fully blossomed

It is my time to shine

Though I am delicate as a snowflake

I am bold and beautiful

I am food for bees,

Gifts to men,

A symbol of love

I come in every color of the rainbow

But am worth a pot of gold

 

Alas, my time in paradise ends abruptly

As I am ripped from my family

 And put on display

My beauty is relegated to

My appearance in a vase

Sweet like honey,

 I fill the room with my perfume

Reminiscing about my time in nature

When the wind whispered secrets to me

My task is relentless, impossible

I see all, like an undercover spy

Happy little helpers have prepared

Like an owl, I travel through the night

The cold wind blows snow

The soft bullets berate my face

You may hear my heavy steps

Above you as you sleep

Excitement lingers when you hear 

Jingle Jangle

With a sudden jostle, we all know duty has come knocking, asking for employment.

The bay door slides open, and being the messenger I am, I prepare my proclamation.

A guiding hand lands on me, directing me away from my brethren with animation.

My missile head rests on the wall, and dragging it across, my spirit ignites.

I rush forward. Sulfurous smoke clears, knowing my message excites.

My energy is my timer, and it cares not for my life.

Halting at debris, my work becomes strife.

My greater brethren spring forth.

Life licks forth from my touch

My work is done, so I die.

However, Like a husk,

My empty corpse

Is useless.

 

Or one of your greatest regrets

I can hold wonderful importance

Or just be a jolly jovial jest.

I can show off your fondest memories

To all those you hold dear

Depending on where you put me

I can be a parent’s greatest fear.

I’m as colorful as a rainbow

Or I’m a new moon midnight.

Buzz buzz buzz goes the machine

As I now appear on your skin

Like a bright fashion disaster

I hardly blend right in.

I can speak at great volumes

What you for others to hear

Or I’m as quiet as a whisper

When you’re not at work I appear.

As a rip could be read as the water of a sob

Half of me is not a hairpiece 

And the other is not a sexuality

 

 

I am practically universal

Known by Africa, Asia, all

I’m older than steel, bronze, iron

Younger than walking, tribe, and fire

 

 

Half of me is a gentle curve

Fraught with tension and danger

The other is semi soft and semi sharp 

To be wielded in talent and/or anger

 

 

Half begins with the beginning of beginning

The other half starts with an A

I’m meant to be used at a distance

You may not see me until it’s too late

 

 

‘Bang’ is not my sound

I am far quieter

Newer models shoot for deadlier

But I remain much lighter

 

 

Some associate me with death, others with love

Be it wood, plastic, or metal I’m made of

Light as a feather, or heavy like steel, 

And as round as the planet itself.

I am a symbol of unity.

Beautiful for your beloved, or a perfect, powerful prison. 

I am at home with and fitted to be with you.

Ornate and over the top, or as plain as can be.

Clinks and clanks can be heard in the presence of many.

My often-dazzling appearance enhances the wearer’s beauty,

Whether they are in possession of many of me or only one.

I only repeat back what I am told.

I am as honest as the day is long

And I am fragile like a baby bird.

If you are not careful,

I may shatter

Into millions of pointy pieces

That nip at the tips of your thin skin.

I am you,

And you are me.

You cannot look at me without seeing yourself too.

I am glossy like a gemstone.

I was born from fire and ashes,

And I was molten to become whole.

I can be helpful to some,

I can be your worst enemy too.

I am a puppet  

I flow and float,  

Dancing in the air 

The whoosh of the wind moves me. 

Sound is as fragile as a teacup 

            Signaling spring like a herald.  

I am an orchestra,  

I can be a high whistle or a low horn. 

Ding! Ping! Ting-a-ling! 

Freckles paint my dark face,

 

Lightyears of life and love erased.

 

The shining streaks are etched in me,

 

For I am dark as the night sky. 

 

Bleeding ears lie

 

As screeching crows sing

 

Hardstone, grey, and black.

 

Words can be gone in an instant, 

 

But not before becoming permanent. 

 

Papyrus screeching like songbirds singing.

 

I am learning,

 

Just as I am ancient

 

Or sometimes a twig

Sneaky, slippery, and sly.

When I go *hiss* everyone screams

A rowdy audience would sound quiet.

Fear is here when i am near

Like a little girl seeing a ghost. 

I’m not as scary as i seem

People just like to scream!

Going about your green garden,

Who am i?

My eyes gleam like moons in the night.

My paws and my claws are looked at in awe,

But I can be cuddly and calming continually.

I snarl like a lion and hiss like a snake,

But I’m a pillow when it’s needed.

Don’t get too close when I’m angry!

My temper is volatile and flighty.

But when I see a bird, I’ll fill the air 

with a chirp, chirp, chirp.

What am I?

Like a Puzzle you can quite figure out 

Maybe its just not my gift to solve her

Her tongue twisting mind takes my time 

She is a case study 

One that will make many a man trip up

I couldn’t solve her so I wrote this

She is like an answer you can’t give 

Stealing your time will make her feel alive 

she took your time once

and another time again

she will keep taking your time  

she is the pause before you answer 

Hhhmmm 

Right now she is in your head

Indecisive you will be from now on

Don’t worry she tricks us all

Down to the last second a struggle will go on

Letting her take your time, your mind

Eventually you’ll figure her out or forever leave her in mystery

Others look a lot like me but aren’t me        

I am as small as a quarter 
And as rare as a unicorn
Typically when I’m identified I die  

I am fragile like a feather

I swish with the wind    

But is stay still my whole life  
I am middle ground                 

I am fortune     

 His hunger is a black hole, 

Eating every time greed rears it’s head,

Hate of dogs as vast as the pacific 

Creek goes the fridge during 

The late lies of losing to a lowly diet 

Hogging the couch like loose change,

His life is a dream,

But only because he sleeps all day,

And lays all night 

And am dependent on those larger than me

One of me is named after a holiday, or after animals.

One after a sweet, or a season, or a weapon.

Some places I am like a rug covering the otherwise plain floor

Though I do not bloom, I am like a flower uncurling from one point.

I am of green or yellow.

A bit of red?

Or maybe white?

I am a counter spell to a sting

I am, to some extent, a fractal

I am fastened in place, but can spread quickly in a whoosh of wind

Or slowly through the soft saturated soil.

But when I do speak, what I have to say may charm you 

or may harm you  

I reverberate in the atmosphere surrounding you 

Ring ring ring 

I enter your brain at a constant speed, 

Sometimes a beat of silence 

Conceived originally by wood and string 

I have no physical presence like your typical silver screen

But my impact is much larger than that 

I am a window into your imagination  

My influence can rub salt in your wounds or be as sharp as a knife

But it can also be as calming as a soft blanket 

Or make your heart race as fast as a bullet in the air 

I’m on TV but you can’t see me

I am a force to be reckoned with 

I am like a prowling lion 

I ignite erupting excitement 

When I speak it crackles throughout ears 

My luscious looks lock eyes in

I am as strong as an ox 

My chiseledness creates envy

I am your worst nightmare

I am as cool as a rock star 

I have a neck that is tall like a giraffe’s’ 

But my twangs and cries sound like anything but 

 I am no larger than the span between two hands 

And those hands are at my mercy 

I give the trees a voice, 

Bring back to life stories long gone 

I have mended and treated the souls of legends 

But have frightfully failed many of my famous friends 

I am every single emotion that has ever been felt 

I am a trophy held after a hard-fought victory 

What am I?

Irritating as a IRS

For that you’ll need a coffee break 

Leaves you in tears and sweats

It’s like a strict parent that never lets you live

Ruins your day once you hear its name 

You can add and you can take 

True terror when it’s on the table

Ugh Ugh Ugh

Confusing as a puzzle

Complicated and can make you little bit unstable 

I light up the horizon, like the sun

Travelers are towered by this thumping great

 I am a grand lady

 I’m as heavy as a airplane

I was a gift 

 There’s Lots of commotion inside my head

My arm hurts from this pose I have to keep

My crown represents all 7 continents 

I am America 

I’m as CRUNCHY as chips

I’m hard on the outside and soft on the inside

I can be SWEET like honey

Always amazing after an activity

I fall off trees with too much ease

I’m healthy like celery 

One bite, CRUNCH!

I don’t fall far from the tree

One a day, will keep the doctor away

I’m layered like an onion 

But surely you won’t shed tears 

I’m a zebra you can eat

I’m not the sandwich you think

I’m a sandwich but sweet 

I come in all sizes, but always same shape 

I’m like a tire, circular, not straight 

I grow old with age, so don’t miss out 

I’m best fresh, right into your mouth 

But also, as white as a sheet   

Stealthy sneaking through the shadows 

Is a stray trying to find where it belongs  

An eternal existence  

It is the air all around us  

Can be as subtle as a slight breeze 

Whether you chose to believe it or not

Can be heard as the howling of the wind  

Scares most with its presence

I am change anew

Imbedded in insight

I spread like fire

Lives and dies but never alive

Demonstrated throughout history

I ding when discovered

Out of sight but not of mind

Movements start with me

I am bulletproof

yet I reside in the dark folds of clothing like a caveman, 

buzzing as I flop and rotate. 

I connect to others at an instant, 

yet I fail to function fully with no fulfilling force of energy.  

My speed can be smooth like butter 

but in general, I am just a man’s tool for fun.  

I buzz the echoes of millions of conversations quietly,  

yet I am one of humanity’s great beauties. 

Try as I might, my physical body cannot fly high.  

My vision, if cracked, can damn me. 

My heart is that of accumulations of innovations  

I have no time for such questions 

I am valuable to everyone
