Hadith:

Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said: “Do not seek knowledge in order to show off in front of the scholars or to argue with the foolish, or to choose the best seat in a gathering because of it, for whoever does that, the Fire, the Fire (awaits him).” 🔥

Al-Baqarah 2:284-286

• 284

- Allah has power over things.

-Allah is all-forgiving, no matter how big the sin, we need to return to Allah.

• 285

-Allah gave Muhammad the trust to deliver the messages to his people.

• 286

-Allah gave us a test that we can face and never reached over our limit.

Hadith Jibril

This hadith tell us about an angel, Jibril A.S that came dressed in a very nice and clean way. He sat in front of the Prophet S.A.W in a very respectful and humble way and asked about three things : Islam, Iman and Ihsan.

This hadith is actually highlighted the etiquette of seeking knowledge.

Surah Al-Fatihah 1:1-7

1-4

This surah is to raises Allah as the Most Gracious and Most Merciful. Allah is the only One who deserves to be worshipped as He is The Creator of this world. He enjoins and forbids, rewards and punishes. He is controlling everything in this world with equal and that He is the Master of the Day of Judgement.

5-7

We, as His creature should worship nobody but Allah and seek help just from Him. Such as seek guide for the Straight Path especially when we have already know the truth but drifted away from it because of ignorance and misguidance.

• BELIEVE IN MALÃI'KAH (THE ANGELS)

Surah Al-Infitar

Allah ﷻ tells us that there are angels who guard the book of our deeds to be use on the day of the judgement.

- The nature of angels:

They are noble creatures and honest in carrying out their duties.

Malãi'kah know everything we do and we never can avoid it.

• Belief in Allah

The Kutub was sent by Allah to the Prophets as a guidance for humanity. The Kutub (Taurah, Zabur, Injil and Al-Quran) also reflects Allah's will and wisdom.

• Belief in Angels

Angels act as negotiators between Allah and His chosen messengers. For example, Jibril A.S was tasked with delivering Allah's messages to the Prophet S.A.W.

Doomsday

The Prophet S.A.W said: "Indeed it (Doomsday) will not happen except after you have seen ten signs before it;

1. Smog comes out (الدخان).

2. The coming of the Dajjal.

3. The exit of the beast (الدّابة)

4. Sun rises from the west.

5. The descent of Isa A.S (Jesus).

6. The descent of Gog & Magog (يأجوج و مأجوج).

7. Appeared eclipse in West.

8. Appeared eclipse in East.

9. Appeared eclipse in Arabian region.

10. Exit of the fire from Yemen.

Qada' and Qadar.(provision & destiny)

Allah S.W.T implements the provision according to His decree. All things are subject to God's will and power wether good or bad. All the provisions of Allah S.W.T have wisdom for His servants.

• Qada' (قضاء)

"God's implementation of what has been determined".

• Qadar (قدر)

"God's provisions and decrees since we're in the womb".

Believing in Qada' and Qadar means accepting all the provisions and decrees of God with a contented heart. It is the sixth pillar of Iman.

Hadith:

Prophet S.A.W said: "Everything must have its essence, a servant will not reach the essence of faith until he knows that indeed what he befalls him will not be able to avoid, and what does not befall him will certainly not befall him."

Man's Nature

Man is by his innate nature very weak, deeply powerless and very poor. His humanness has given him a bond to the universe, despite the fact that the evanescence of the things that he loves.

Intellect shows him high ambitions and lasting fruits. Yet his reach is short, lifespan is short, his capacities are slight and he is of short patience.

The spirit of such character needs to present its state at the court of the Almighty and the Compassionate, knocking on His door trough Solat.

Ihsan

Ihsan in Islam means doing good, fulfilling duties or completing any productive task with excellence, care and best effort. Ihsan from "حسن" means beauty, goodness and perfection.

Ikhlas

• Ikhlas ensures the actions are done purely for Allah without seeking praise.

E.g: When praying or giving charity, Ikhlas ensures the act is for Allah alone. Ikhlas also purifies the heart and Ihsan perfects the action.

Verified Faith (Iman Al-Tahqiqi) 

• A deep, unwavering belief in Allah, where one recognizes His constant presence and guidance. It leads to turning to Allah alone for help and avoid reliance on others which reflects the highest level of Ihsan.

Following Sunnah

• Striving for excellence and sincerity in one's actions and worship by practising the examples demonstrated by the Prophet S.A.W.

E.g: Sincerity in Worship.

Seeking Excellence in Deeds.

Pray (Solat)

Solat is the spiritual ascension of a believer , bringing them closer to Allah as if we are having a conversation with Allah, Prophet S.A.W and the angels. Ihsan- Worshiping Allah as if we see Him, knowing He sees us.

Meaning:

Eschatology, the doctorine of the last things. It was originaly a Western term referring to Jewish, Christian and Muslim beliefs about the end of history, the resurrection of the dead, the Last Judgment, the messianic era and the problem of theodicy (the vindication of God's justice).

Examples:

• The return of Prophet Isa A.S.

• The emergence of Dajjal.

• Sun set from west.

Hadith

Umar ibn al-Khattab reported that a man appeared before the Prophet S.A.W and asked about Islam, Iman and Ihsan.

The Prophet explained that "Islam is to testify to Allah and His Messenger, pray, give charity, fast in Ramadan, and perform Haji if able. Iman is to believe in Allah, His angels, books, messengers, the Last Day, and providence. Ihsan is to worship Allah as if you see Him. When asked about the Doomsday, the Prophet mentioned signs like the slave girl giving birth to her mistress and shepherds building tall structures. The man was later revealed to be Gabriel, teaching the religion (Islam).

Surah Maryam 41-50

About prophet Ibrahim A.S and his father.

Ibrahim received a revelation from God, instructing him to call people to the worship of the One God including his father. In some interpretations, Ibrahim's father threatened to stone him if he didn't stop preaching. Faced with this threat, Ibrahim chose to leave his home and family to follow God's command.

Even though his father rejected his message, Ibrahim continued to pray for guidance and forgiveness for him

*Despite their deep conflict, Ibrahim continued to show respect towards his father.

• Parents:

-Always respect them.

-We must obey everything that is command by them.

-We can't rise our voice to them.

-No matter how bad a parent is, we still can't fight them.

• Neighourhood :

-Pilgrimage when sick

-Share food

-Practice good behavior and tolerance with them.

• Student:

-Refers to Adab in seeking knowledge.

-Adab to the teachers/ lecturers.

-Always focus

-Don't be a free rider

* As a Muslim and a student, we should learn and know that manners (Adab) is the most important thing in any aspects of life before seeking knowledge.

Islam also discouraged Wastefulness and encourage kindness to animals, plants, and natural resources. Muslims are taught to respect and protect the earth as a trust (amanah) from God, ensuring sustainability for future generations.

Quranic Verse:

“And do not commit abuse on the earth, spreading corruption.”

– Surah Al-Baqarah (2:60)

Hadith:

The Prophet (ﷺ) said:

"The earth has been made for me a place of worship and a means of purification."

🔹 Setting the Right Niyyah (Intention)

Niyyah is the internal intention or purpose behind every act of worship. In Islam, it’s not enough to simply do the act , but it must be done sincerely for the sake of Allah, without seeking praise or reward from others.

• The quality of worship depends on niyyah. If the intention is pure, even small acts are rewarded greatly.

Eg: Two people may pray in the same way, but one does it for Allah and the other for people to see — only the first will be accepted by Allah.

🔹 Applying the Right ʿAmal (Practices)

ʿAmal refers to physical and spiritual actions in line with the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. It is not enough to have intention, but the act must also be correctly done according to Sunnah and Sharīʿah.

• Right action shows obedience, discipline, and respect for divine guidelines.

Eg: Someone performs wuḍūʾ (ablution) and prays as the Prophet did, not only with the right intention but with correct practice.

🔹 Internalising Iḥsān (Spiritual Excellence)

Iḥsān means to worship Allah as though you see Him. It is the highest level of faith, where your actions are driven by full awareness of Allah’s presence.

• Iḥsān turns routine worship into deeply spiritual experiences, building sincerity, mindfulness, and love of Allah.

Eg: A person gives charity privately, knowing Allah sees them, even if no one else does.

🔹 Surah Al-ʿAnkabūt (29:45) – Ṣalāh

Verse: “Indeed, prayer prevents immorality and wrongdoing.”

• Salah isn’t just a ritual; it’s a tool that keeps a person away from bad behaviour.

🔹 Surah Al-Baqarah (2:183) – Ṣawm

Verse: “Fasting has been prescribed to you… so that you may attain taqwā.”

• The main goal of fasting is to develop self-control and God-consciousness.

🔹 Surah Al-Tawbah (9:103) – Zakāh

Verse: “Take from their wealth a charity by which you purify them and cause them increase…”

• Zakāh purifies the soul from greed and purifies wealth from unlawful gain.

🔹 Surah Al-Baqarah (2:197) – Ḥajj

Verse: “And take provisions, but indeed the best provision is taqwā.”

• Hajj is a physical and spiritual journey; righteousness (taqwā) is its ultimate goal.

🔹 Ṭahārah (Purification: Wuḍūʾ / Tayammum)

Ṭahārah means physical and spiritual cleanliness before performing any act of worship.

🔹 Conditions for Ṣaḥ (Valid) Ṣalāh

For ṣalāh to be accepted, certain requirements must be met , like being in a state of purity, wearing proper clothing, praying on time, and facing the Qiblah.

🔹 Pillars (Arkān) of Ṣalāh

These are the essential actions and recitations that must be completed in prayer. Missing them invalidates the prayer.

🔹 Situational Application of Ṣalāh

Islam allows flexibility in prayer depending on conditions such as travelling, sickness, or danger.

🔹 Al-Ṭāʿah (Submission/Loyalty to Allah)

Al-Ṭāʿah is total obedience and surrender to Allah’s commands without resistance.

• Through prayer, a person submits their will to Allah, accepting that He knows what is best.

🔹 Al-Jihād (Struggle in the Path of Allah)

Not limited to physical fighting, this includes the personal struggle to stay firm in faith.

• Maintaining focus in prayer and avoiding sin outside of prayer is a form of jihād (inner struggle).

🔹 Muḥāsabah (Self-Reflection)

Muḥāsabah is to evaluate one’s own actions and intentions, especially after acts of worship.

• Prayer helps believers assess their behaviour and seek improvement.

🔹 ʿIffah (Modesty / Self-Restraint)

ʿIffah is controlling desires and avoiding sinful actions.

• Regular prayer builds discipline and encourages a lifestyle of purity and honour.

🔹 Tawaḍḍuʿ (Humility)

Tawaḍḍuʿ is humbling oneself before Allah and others, avoiding arrogance.

• The physical acts of sujūd (prostration) remind the believer that all power and greatness belong to Allah alone.

🔹 Ṣabr (Patience and Forbearance)

Ṣabr is enduring hardship with calmness and trust in Allah.

• Fasting teaches control over hunger, anger, and desires. It’s a powerful training ground for patience.

Eg: A fasting person controls their temper even when provoked, understanding the value of calmness for Allah’s sake.

🔹 Takrīm (Respect and Honour)

Takrīm means honouring others with dignity, kindness, and good treatment.

• During fasting, Muslims are encouraged to be extra respectful and courteous, remembering their shared humanity.

Eg: A teenager who usually argues with parents becomes more respectful and soft-spoken during Ramadan.

🔹 Raḥmah (Compassion and Friendliness)

Raḥmah is mercy like being gentle, forgiving, and kind.

• Fasting softens the heart and increases empathy for those who struggle with hunger daily.

Eg: Invites a poor neighbour to share ifṭār, showing compassion and generosity.

🔹 Tawakkul (Reliance on Allah)

Tawakkul is trusting Allah in all matters, especially when giving away what we love.

• When a Muslim gives zakāh or charity, they trust that Allah will replenish and bless them in return.

🔹 Ukhuwwah (Brotherhood)

Ukhuwwah is the sense of unity and love among Muslims, regardless of race or background.

• Zakāh and ṣadaqah create strong social bonds and reduce the gap between the rich and poor.

🔹 Al-Taḍḥiyyah (Sacrifice)

Taḍḥiyyah is the willingness to give up wealth, time, comfort, or even ego for Allah’s sake.

• Pilgrims give up luxury, endure physical difficulty, and live in unity with others, all for the sake of pleasing Allah.

  
  

🔹 Taqwā (God-Consciousness)

Taqwā is constant awareness of Allah in one’s heart, influencing every decision and action.

• Ḥajj develops taqwā as pilgrims are constantly reminded of their dependence on Allah and their need for forgiveness.

It was also enlightening to reflect on how Islam shapes us to be good Khalifah on this earth, with guidance from the Quran and Hadith that emphasizes our duty to care for others and the environment.

Beyond the spiritual lessons, this usrah has taught me the importance of teamwork and cooperation. I am grateful for the new friendships formed and the sense of unity built along the way.
