When discussing what needs to happen and recieving some dissaproval from the rest of the boys, Ralph says, "Now I say this and make this a rule, because I'm chief" By saying "because I'm chief", Ralph is trying to establish his dominance over the rest of the boys. The conch is the reason that he was ever voted chief and now he has used that power to have complete control over the boys. Soon afterwards Jack counters his idea and dissaproves of his vision and Ralph states, "You voted me chief. Now you do what I say."
