This law directly affects school libraries because schools may not receive the discounts offered by the E-rate program unless they certify that they have an internet safety policy that includes technology protection measures. CIPA's relationship to the banning of books in school libraries is that schools must provide reasonable notice and hold at least one public hearing or meeting to address the proposal. My thoughts as a soon-to-be teacher on book banning and censorship is that I am happy the Children's Internet Protection Act is enacted and in use.
