I improved my communication skills and learned to open up to new people, by this I've made friends. It improved my communication skills and confidence. This has helped with all aspects of my communication skills such as speaking to new people, not being worried or nervous to ask for help and allowing me to meet a range of interesting people.

By using a clear voice when communicating (sharing ideas/information/opinions) I can get my point across and ensure that everyone can fully understand what is being said. Within discussions, we do group work where I got to know other classmates and develop my skills. In class I learnt how to use sign language and the phonetic alphabet.

I use teamwork within my practical assignments, so everything is organised and easy to deal with. Also, it leads to the best outcome and hopefully the best grade possible.

Water Bottle at College: I use a water bottle when going to college as it’s a sustainable change from using plastic bottles daily. The water bottle is made from recycled plastic and is metal, so I can have hot and cold beverages, which is more useful than a plastic bottle that is typically only one use and will end up in landfill. Therefore, it damages the environment, hence why I take a water bottle to college.

Recycling waste: I recycle all my waste, wither it’s at home or out in public. I do this to ensure that the items don’t go in the wrong bin; don’t lead to long lasting landfill. I do this immediately so waste isn’t lying around, for example, it then can’t harm any wildlife.

Changing ways of transport to improve the environment: I did my research on the easiest modes of transport that is great for the environment, I found that catching a bus is better than driving a car as it’s near enough the same amount of pollution, yet it carries more people. And when it’s the best option depending on the situation, I travel by foot.

Part-time role in hospitality

I worked as a waitress in a pub, I would do tasks such as clearing tables, food and drink service, general housekeeping and answering any inquires from customers.

By working this role, I made new friends and learnt new experiences, where I developed my skills.

If I were to change anything, I would get more hours and stay away from the gossip.

From this work experience, I achieved new skills such as good time management and the importance of cleanliness. Also, I developed my current skills and experienced a range of events that will prepare me for future workplaces.

I am currently working as a sales assistant, my tasks include being on the tills (interacting with customers), checking stock and cleaning the shop.

Baby sitting

One of first work experiences was baby sitting, I would travel to the client's houses and watch their children for a certain length of time. Tasks included taking them on small trips, making sure they were entertained and caring for them.

I developed lots of skills such as effective communication, good time management and active listening. Also, I got more clients from word of mouth.

If I was to do it again, I would have charged more and limited my hours.

From baby sitting, I have achieved new skills such as problem solving.
