homework from 0413

The activity I’d like to recommend is taking a daytrip to Port Stephens in Australia. It is located north of Sydney and takes about 2h 30 min by car. The trip is mainly consisted of dolphin watching and sand surfing but there are winery tours programs to choose if you are interested <del>in</del>.

The thing I remember the most is sand boarding and I can tell you that it is one of the most exciting things I’ve ever done. A 4WD takes you to sand dunes which may be up to 50 meters high. You <del>will</del> climb up a sand dune, slide down it on the custom made sand board. The scenery to be seen on the top of the sand dune is amazing – the sky, the sea and many sand dunes all together look like a picture- which you cannot see in Korea. At the moment I slid down the hill I felt freedom and excitement as well although the moment is very short. It is a place to take good pictures as well. The instructors are willing to take amazing pictures of you and recommend you pose like jumping high and stretching arms in the air. I got a nice picture with my husband as well.

I recommend this experience because it makes you understand how wonderful <del>the</del> nature is and gives you refreshment from the boring city life. I’d like to visit the place again with my future child someday.

I suppose I'm the kind of person who likes extreme activities and new challenges such as bungee jumping or rock climbing. Actually the artificial rock climbing I'd like to recommend <del>is </del>may seem quite dangerous and difficult but you don't worry about that. Now I'll try to explain why it's not so difficult.

I can't remember the exact time, but I suspect it was about two or three years ago, when I worked for my previous office. I was looking for something new that would make my routine life more exciting. While I was searching the internet, I found some articles about indoor climbing but I couldn't decide whether to try or not. Actually, I worried about falling down to the ground, when I slid my hand but finally I decided to book a one-day class and find out whether it was suitable or not. After the class I realized, it was really harder than I expected but it was quite safer than I thought. So I decided to start artificial rock climbing.

The best thing it gives me was a remarkable achievement. When I succeeded a goal that I hadn't done for a while, it made me feel really being proud of myself. So, I'd recommend this experience because it makes you understand how wonderful doing some difficult thing by yourself is. And also I could get rid of my stress because it was quite hard so I couldn't think that much while doing this. So If you want to get rid of your stress, I bet it will be really good for you!!!

Unjung_film reviews^^

Hi everyone!! Did you have a great weekend? I watched some films as usual so I'd recommend these films for you~~!!

At first, I'd like to tell you about 'genius' !!

It's based on a real story and stars Colin Firth as Maxwell Perkins, a renowned editor who discovered Ernest Hemingway and F. Scott Fitzgerald, and Jude Law as Thomas Wolfe, an author who wrote Look Homeward Angel, Of Time and the River and so on…

One day Max receives Wolfe's draft which is quite long and tough but he can't stop reading, so he decides to publish Wolfe's book although other publishers refuse this because he thinks it is such a extremely beautiful and unique novel. While they're editing together they become friends. Actually Wolfe is really quirky and talkative and Max is strict of his rules so it looks quite difficult to be friend together but they do. I think it is because of Max!! Wolfe has a lover but she left him .. She says to Max that Wolfe leaves him and he feels emptiness but he says he doesn't… I understand him why he says like that… I guess he understands Wolfe and waits until he comes back to his life and be his good friend.

The most interesting thing was Max's hat!!
He never takes off his hat even he wears his pyjamas but he just once takes off. When you see this moment you can know why this moment and you can feel his feeling… In my opinion, he has really strict rules of his life actually I could know from the scene that is in the jazz bar and his clean tidy desk, so I suppose also his hat is represented his this character so when he takes off his hat, I can feel his deep and extreme sorrow and love of his friend… After I watched this film I thought about my friends and relationship with other people and I'd like to be like Max to my friends^^

While I was watching this film , I thought If I can see and understand it in English , it would be more touching… because there are lots of literal lines… it was such a beautiful lines even I read in Korean… Actually I tried to listen what they said but… My eyes are more stronger than my ears even though Colin Firth's absolutely sweet and gentle voice^^ but someday I'm going to try to watch it again without subtitles… I hope…^^

Second one is 'Don't look now'.

It was such a amazing film. I suppose the main idea of story is really simple but directing and cinematography was remarkable. The story about a family who lost their pretty little daughter and they meet stranger in Venice. Actually the set is Venice and narrow dark road ,like maze, makes also the story more dramatic and quite scary.

The most amazing thing is every scenes… there are no meaningless scenes and lines… All scenes are connected each other. And zoom in , close up, insert.. there are lots of visual sources to make me be nervous and anxious… so I bet you can't stop watching and after you watch this film you can't get up right away… I think the director is such a genius.

Actually both films are great but the last film that I'll recommend for you was more touching me…

The last one is 'It's only the end of the world'.
I like Xavier Dolan who is a director this film so I've watched lot's of his films… I suppose his films are shown our real life more closer so.. Sometimes it's really annoying and uncomfortable to watch but… I guess because it is our real life that we don't want to accept and want to hide… so.. After I watch his films it makes me think more and sometime regret my life and false that I've done to my friends and family. This film also as similar as his other films..

Louis hasn't been his home for many years but he visits his home to tell something but… he is stranger and guest… not a family member… I think… the set is only the house and you can see only family members there is no other actors and actress it was really interesting.. They talk and fight and.. There are some uncomfortable mood in the house…

Actually I lived alone for many years and when I visited home on holidays I feel little bit uncomfortable.. My family are really thoughtful so not as same as this family in the film but I felt like I was a stranger and visitor...like this.. And… I can tell lots of thing to my family because they are my family but sometimes I can't tell because they are my family…So… I understand this mood and I sympathy for him and his family….And the ending was really great and impressing!!!
At last I'd like to tell you about the music in this film. The begining song and last song tell everything about the story of this film. You can understand story when you hear these songs.
*Home Is Where It Hurts _
"home is not a harbour...home is where it hurts..."

*Natural Blues _
"Oh Lordy, trouble so hard...Don't nobody know my troubles but God"

All these films are such a great for me so I'd like to recommend for you..

You can watch only 'genius' at the theatre now so… maybe it will be good for watching... But if you have a chance to watch other films I bet it would be fun and enjoyable~~^^

I will rink trailers that I watched^^

'genius'_https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gCvcD3IBSlc
'don't look now'_https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AUWB-Kw4FiM
'It's only the end of the world'_https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y_RgejsJheo

Watching wild animals in hot air balloons

(Sorry for the delay. Ji-Yeong)
I’m not the kind of person who likes extreme activities but I really like watching wild animals, which is sometimes the main purpose of my trip. The activity I’d like to recommend may seem annoying and waste of money because you have to wake up too early in the morning and it costs a lot. However, it is worth it.

When I went to Kenya, there was a programme going on a safari in hot air balloons. At first, I couldn’t decide easily because it costed more than 400 dollars and I had to wake up 4 a.m. at the latest. But I thought that a bird that flies higher can see farther, so made up my mind to do it.

Wild animals usually move most actively at dawn; that’s why you have to set off so early. I left my lodge about 4:30 a.m. and arrived at the place where the safari would begin before the sun rose. There were 8 people and a pilot in 1 vehicle and the pilot kept its altitude and direction to find more animals and not to bother them at the same time.

It was amazing when I watched buffalo and zebra crossing the Masai Mara so fast, a long line of gnu and small groups of elephant. I heard that you could also find predators hunting prey, but I wasn’t lucky enough. After the safari, they served a great lunch on the grassland and it was another special experience.

I’d recommend this experience because it is one of the best ways to watch wild animals without disturbing them. If you love the great nature and unless you have acrophobia, add this to your bucket list.

Catching Lobsters-Portland,Maine (USA)

Hi, this is Hye Yoon (Carrie is my nickname)
I am not the kind of person who likes extreme activities but I was able to trying something new with influence of my friend. The activity I would like to recommend may seem interesting since it is not easy to experience in Korea.

It was in 2013, when I visited my friend in Boston. Over the weekend, we traveled up to Portland, Maine. Portland, Maine’s largest city, is a harbor city with coast of Atlantic Ocean. My friend and I were walking around downtown Portland looking for something to eat. Then by the harbor, we found lobstering tour boat by the sea. It was a 90-minute lobster catching cruise tour program where you get short tour of historic sites of Portland and catch lobster. After looking at the program thoroughly, we decided to catch our own lunch for the day.

Before getting on the boat, I was not so sure how we will be catching lobsters. Also, I was afraid that the lobsters would cut of the nets with their claws and run away. However, it was a misconception.

We went out in the middle of the sea on the boat, then the captain will drop some metal cages with baits to attract lobsters. While waiting for lobsters to be caught, he explained how to capture their claws with rubberbands. After bringing up the cages on the boat, first thing we did was to measure their tail so that they are grown enough to be caught. Otherwise, it would be illegal since the size of lobster to be caught is restricted under law. After selecting the lobsters, we restrain their claws with rubberbands and put them in a watery bucket.

When we got off the boat, with extra $10, we were allowed to take the lobsters to a mooring restaurant to have them cooked. After experiencing some labor in the middle of the sea, I was able to taste the fresh, inexpensive and well-contained meal. It was one of the most interesting experience I have done and I will say it was worth the money.

The thing I remember most is the accomplishment I got from catching lobsters (sorry, lobsters) with excitement that I’ll have them for lunch. I’d recommend this experience because it is not common and is exciting to go out to the sea.

If you want to find more about it, recommend you to read this article.
https://goo.gl/WcZk8V

https://www.britishcouncil.kr/uk-korea-2017-18/events/isaac-julien-play-time
This is the BC website which I had got information about this exhibition.

Hi everyone~~ Are you having a great weekend? I'd like to recommend a exhibition for you, instead of films!!

It is the <Isaac Julien:Play Time>. I'm not sure whether you like it or not...but, if you are interested in these words, such as, Capital, Economy, Art aution, Proletarian, so on..., it would be pretty gripping and stimulating!!

The title of exhibition was really absorbing for me because 'Play Time' is my favourite film which was directed by Jacques Tati who is my favourite director, and the title really came from this film. That's the reason why I chose this exhibition to go.

When I went this exhibition, I found it quite awkward, because I've never been to these kind of exhibitions at all. There are only three videos which are played in different style rooms. So, at first I had to ask to a staff these were everything that were displayed for this exhibition and she said yes...

Actually, I'm not the kind of person who are interested in Capitalism or Economy, so it was a little bit boring and difficult to understand but...quite informative^^

Anyway, it'll be until 30th April, so if you'd like to go there, I think you have to hurry^^

My Anecdote-An Unforgettable Press Conference

It was six years ago, in 2011, when I just started working. I have hosted a press conference for launching a product. The product was an ED (erectile dysfunction) treatment newly launching in an innovative form called ODT (orodispersible tablet), which dissolves in your mouth without drinking water. My team had worked day and night to prepare for the press conference, writing press release, making arrangement for the speaker from Netherlands and etc. We were finally ready to announce the new product to media in July in a hotel in downtown Seoul.

The press conference itself was very successful resulting coverage of over 100 articles introducing the product. The actual products were ready at the conference to be photographed for press release. Yet, after the conference, when we were cleaning up after the reporters left, we have realized that one of the package was missing. We have looked into the surveillance camera but the product was in the blind spot that it was not recorded. The product manager from the pharmaceutical company was so upset that she was keep saying that she will call the police. My team looked all over the conference hall, called all the reporters who have attended and looked everywhere we could including the kitchen trash bin.

Since we could not find the product, my team had to compensate for it since my client needed the product by dinner time for a symposium. So, I was the first one to come back to the office and call pharmacies nearby my office to find out whether they had the new product. I had no luck in searching for the product because the product was unpopular and it was launched that day. Meanwhile, since the product was an ETC (ethical drug), we needed a prescription. Unfortunately, my team was consisted of only women. Therefore, I asked a male colleague, a friend in mid-20s for help. He reluctantly agreed to help my team. He went to urologist with my manager, pretending to be her boyfriend and an ED patient at the same time. We were able to receive the prescription and went to a drug distribution company to purchase it.

Later, he blamed me for making him an ED patient in his twenties. I promised to get him an eel lunch one day but it never happened. I had many more press conferences, promotional events and all but can never forget this happening. Hoping that it would not happen ever again.

When I was in Elementary school, I was living in apartment with my family.

My mum had finished learning driving to get a driver's licence. One day she went to an academy to take an exam. After she left, I felt sleepy.

Few hours later, I was sleeping and mum came back home and she tried to open the door but she couldn't, because I locked all kinds of door keys. She was ringing the door bell and making calls to home but I couldn't wake up. They worrying about me so, they decided to call to my friends and broadcast to people who live in the same apartment by public speaker for finding me.

Almost six or seven hours later, I heard the door bell and I unlocked the door. When I opened the door, my parents and brother looked at me angrily. I can't forget their faces still now….

Next day, I went to the school and all my friends asked me where I was in and I said I had slept at home... I found it was embarrassing so, I never ever lock all kinds of door keys again.

I hope we can see at the myclass or the BC.

I think it could be my last recommendation for film for you...

The film is 'get out'~~!!!
The story is about that a black man goes to a white girl friend's house and then something happen in her parents house.

Actually, I don't want to about the story a lot... because it could be spoiler.. this film has twist...

After I watching the film, I think humans desire to get something that they haven't had... too strong... maybe you already realized that I mentioned "a black man" and "a white girl friend".
