It was interesting to see how all of the six components we researched seemed to connect to one another. For example, I began to better understand the way vocabulary development and comprehension go hand in hand. A student can read a word and not comprehend the meaning behind the word. This can become an issue when the student is trying to make sense of a sentence that pertains to the instructions of their homework assignment. Misreading any sort of instructions can lead into academic inaccuracy because of a misinterpretation of a word or sentence. It is important to grasp the understanding of a word as well as reading the word correctly to make an entire sentence make sense. I chose to lay out my Padlet in order from left to right because when reading we read from left to right. I believe when a young student begins to read and write letters and words they especially thrive from visually seeing the word as well as hearing the word, all at the same time. I have recently learned about zoo-phonics and see what a difference it makes when you combine hearing, speaking, seeing and moving all at once. Zoo-phonics is a development that helps students become strong readers and spellers. There were so many different approaches to take when introducing the literacy component to young readers.
