         <description><![CDATA[<div>Weathering can effect monuments and historical buildings by both chemical and physical weathering. Depending on the material the building/monuments, specific weathering can and can't work. If the material is weak (because it is old) chemical weathering such as acid rain could make details less defined and harder to see so the substance would be smoother and more dull. While things like frost wedging or things hitting the substance (which is classified as physical/mechanical weathering) can also do the same thing but this time the substance is still itself, rather than being changed from the chemical weathering.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Our countries buldings and historical buildings are effected by chemical and physical weathering. Sometimes, a building can be burned down. This is a type of chemical weathering, as it creates another substance, smoke and ash. Often times, buildings that are burtn down are rebuilt. Acid rain chemically weathers down buildings and historic sites. It burn through them, often timescreating new chemicals in the process. Acid rain is created by polluted water that gets evaportated and is rained down, or pollution enters the cloud that has water droplets in it. These buldings can also be physically weathered. If rocks are thrown at it, the building chips a little, but this does not change the substance that&nbsp;  the beuilding is composed of. Frost wedging can physically damage buildings, as it splits the differences between 2 areas. When rainm enters the cracks between a building, and overnight it freezes, it expands, creating a wedge. This keeps happening, while the water keeps melting and freezing. This can casue buldings to break off of other parts of the building.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Weathering can effect our monuments and historical buildings by water getting in and making cracks, and if a monument is made out of limestone it can be eaten away from water and acid. Acid is created from factory's or cars its basically gas that goes up into the air and comes down with rain, Some buildings also seem darker and dirtier and that's because the reaction from acid and calcite in water traps dirt in the building. Acid rain can also leave stains on marble because the acid rolls of the color from a statue and there is no possible way of cleaning it without damaging the marble.</div><div><br><br></div>]]></description>

These cracks can be in buildings and because of weathering old building get demolished because they are unsafe. Frost wedging is considered a physical change because it changes the look of buildings and monuments.          <description><![CDATA[<div>The botanic gardens was made out of limestone which is easily dissolved by acid and water. The pieces in the limestone that are a bit stronger stick out more than the limestone which is dissolved.&nbsp; On our capital acid rain dissolves calcite which is around harder materials which leaves marks. Gypsum is then created by the calcite and acid and the water and it the traps dirt which gives it a moldy color. It also form a crust which then breaks off. At the Grant Memorial the bronze statue turns this greenish blueish color due to the acid rain which then stains the marble and runs down each step. And apparently there’s no way to clean the green blue without damaging the marble. At the Jefferson Memorial the acid rain eats away around the calcite. Whatever the calcite was holding then gets dissolved which makes these big gaps. So basically acid rain dissolves and damages the buildings in Washington D.C.</div><div><br><br></div><div><br></div>]]></description>
