The role of the tools in Vygotsky's theory is to aid and help guide the pupil to the next threshold/level of learning. The video example and explanation of the floatation devices helped portray just how the tools help and not do all the work. The learning process is guided with a MKO through dialogue.

I believe the "I do, we do, you do" scaffolding model is extremely beneficial for students! I can recall multiple times when my teachers did this in class. Not only did it help me have better quality work, but I also felt more confident in completing my assignment or project. The first two steps the 'I do, and We do" can be utilized as two practice "rounds" or as the plan and rough draft. So when they get to the "You do" that version will be the "final" draft.

The "I do, We do, You do" activity assumes that not all students are on the same developmental stage. It helps students navigate as a class. It can benefit students who are too shy/embarrassed to say they do not understand the material.

On another note, you guys used great informative resources (pictures, videos)

The ZPD is so important. Knowing what the student can do independently and then scaffolding them as a MKO to reach the next level of understanding helps the students grow. The ZPD is different for each student and therefore knowing your students is very important.
