Why is the .6 FTE for Prop 28 arts instruction highlighted. (Slide 16)

It is highlighted because it is a new budget item which can potentially add another art teacher for 3 days at WP. This will allow for every student at all grades to get art once a week instead of during a particular semester. We can halve the class load of Ms. Tremblay so one teacher can focus on TK-2 and the other 3-5.

The district uses modeling software to come up with a prediction. I took the classes from this year and bumped them up to the next grade level and got about 589.

When will you find out if the Special Education department will fund an extra .5 FTE. Do they have any published criteria for this?

We will probably not find out until May. We are still doing initial IEPs to identify new students added to SPED. So, if the district adds the .5 which I believe will reasonably happen we want to put the funds towards other staff but if not, I would want to make that addition to help Jodi Beeman with her new load and to avoid the difficulty of trying to hire a .5 SPED teacher which is near to impossible as I experienced this year.
