Today we started creating our first background images for our e-books. I learnt a lot more about photoshop today than i have over the time i have been at college i learnt how to make new layers and use them effectively, how to add really cool looking filters on the image to completely change the look of the image. I need to improve my time management skills because at the moment i am quite slow at productive topics like this. A problem i had was adding the filters onto the image with ruining the image but i overcame this because i asked friend and he told me what to do. The next thing i need to do is start designing and creating characters to appear in my e-book.

The Very Hungry Catapillar has been Erics most popular book ever it has been translated into 62 languages and sold over 41 million copies since the book was published in 1969.

Eric Carle's art work is very recognisable.His art work is created in collage technique, using hand-painted papers, which he cuts and layers to form bright and cheerful images. Children also enjoy working in collage and many send him pictures they have made themselves, inspired by his illustrations. He receives hundreds of letters each week from his young admirers.

Today i have completed the first background for scene one of our E-Book. First i did a rough drawing on paper and then started to transfer it onto photoshop. In the production meeting today we set out targets for ourselves my targets were to edit the background and finish it by today.

A problem i encountered was trying to get a pair of legs in that look okay, we still need to adjust what it looks like but this is what the finish product is. Another problem i encountered was trying to get a cat and a dog in, the reason this was a problem is because i can not draw a dog or cat so jaleigh had to draw them then send them to me so i could put them into our background.

This was pretty easy to do so if i were to do it next time I'm not sure what i would do differently next, if i were to pick something then i would redo the legs and add some clothing.

I would say that the outcome was successful because i think it looks quite professional and i am proud on how it turned out. I really liked how the cat and dog look like they have some texture to then and how then carpet and walls don't contrast eachother out.

Our focus group was conducted to help each other out and so we could all come up with an e-book starter story, we also feedback the secondary research we conducted that day on different e-book types and what kind of stories their are out there. My biggest visual imaging problem was that i couldn't draw the characters the way i wanted to because I'm not a very experienced drawer, but i over came this by printing out a picture of a dog and ended up tracing over it and then tried to copy what i did when i traced it. I learnt a lot of information on the types of e-book and the people who make children books, this could help because i could put a professional touch to my e-book from looking at the professional authors who make the e-books.

Today our lesson was cut short because ofsted was coming to visit so we only had an hour in class but we got giving a homework to do some market research which i managed to complete in class so I didn't have to do it at home,.

Today we were given a task to complete a production schedule in our teams we had to put down things like when we are completing certain scenes ,who is doing the audio voices for that scene, who is the main is designer etc... A problem I had was trying to get real like pictures in the scene and not have them look out of place I had to use an array of tools to make the chair and window look okay. I had to use the select tool to get rid of the white around the picture then use the burn tool and opacity to make it look in place. I believe I solved this problem very effectively because I didn't ask anyone or look anything up I tried to figure it out by myself if I were to do it again I would try to find a transparent picture to shorten the fix up time on the chairs and other props.
I believe my outcomes of my first couple scenes came out very successful because in my opinion I think it looks very nice and professional. The reason I think this is because I am very proud of what techniques I have used to get the scenes completed. I have learnt how to add a picture into a scene and make it look right I believe this is the biggest skill I have learnt in this lesson.

In today's lesson we got given a task to plan out our e-book by story mapping it. We have to put what the scenes may contain such as audio, animation,character design etc... What we need to plan for our e-book such as team leader, leading character design, leading editor etc...
I started creating my backgrounds by getting real life textures and overlapping them on props in the background, I soon realised this didn't look right so I decided to scrap that idea and go with a whole different response. I ended up using the paint tool and drawing on the flooring,walls,doors etc...

Today i set a task for myself which was to complete scene 5, i did manage to do this but while i was doing this it turns out i drew the background for scene 7 so i manage to do both scene 5 and 7 without even wanting to.

I fell very confident in my writing because I have a lot of points to write about and I feel like I have made my writing very descriptive by expanding on all points

Podcast Evaluation
The reasons these podcasts were so analytical is because they both use different techniques, The Drive Podcast used a lot of power verb to explain the story and characters, another technique is that he uses feedback from the audience to make more points on what the audience thought. The Whiplash podcast didn't use as many power verbs as Drive but still had many analytical techniques, he had a face to face conversation with the camera so its almost like you yourself are having a chat, he also talks about his own opinion on the film and give a good description on the different characters and how they fell and how the story progressed throughout. Overall the Drive podcast was more critical analysing and the Whiplash podcast was more descriptive analysing.

Today we completed our first production meeting, in this meeting we go over what we will be completing by the end of the day and how long it should take. We set our own smart personal targets. To set the tasks for that lesson we had to review the production schedule and look at what tasks were set for that day and then set them tasks to the allocated member of the team. I started to draw rough sketches of the scenes and i drew a birds eye view of the whole house. After i finished the sketch for scene 1 i tried different methods to try and make the scene. First i tried finding an existing image and tried to make it look like a cartoon second i had a plain canvas and then found images on the web and added them in but i didn't like that either. So after a while of thinking i though of the idea of drawing out the scenes so i started it but didn't get to finish is but from what i started i really liked how it looked so i stuck with it.

In today's lesson we looked at two movie review from the same guy and had to write a PEE paragraph on how he analysed the movie. The first review we watched was him reviewing the film Drive, in this review he was very analytical and used lots of effective words to bring the film together also it was very serious. In this review he talked about the characters,scenes,cinematography and other important features. In the second review video he talked about whiplash instead of having a variety of images from the film like he did in the review about Drive, in whiplash he was speaking directly to the camera. This review wasn't as serious or analytical as the other review. This review was more kid friendly and humorous, he didn't go into as much detail about the characters, the scenes or talk about the cinematography. I have learnt how to make a piece of writing effective by using analysing skills and by using power verbs. A problem i had was i had to rematch the review and make nots on what they said, the reason this was a problem is that i was meant to make notes while watching it the first time

Favourite movie scene

The reason this is my favourite movie scene ever is because of many different reasons. The music in this scene is very very fast and upbeat also the music and the visuals of the fight fit together really well i feel like that might be another reason why this scene is so memorable. Every time i hear the music and watch this scene its always so entertaining to watch because you appreciate how much work goes into amazing scenes like this. For example the camera work is insane the way they position the camera and have it move around the crowd like its a person in the fight makes it so much more entertaining. Also another thing I found really interesting was that a film director was able to produce one of the single best fighting scenes I've seen in a long time without even putting in any voices or having any of the actors speak a single word throughout.
