Today, I will do a self-reflection on what I have learnt during this whole semester. For VMSE, we have to educate the students with disabilities about the realm of microbes. This project involves USM and UIA students as well. UPM students will be in charge of the materials while they will be doing the poster, module and teaching. Our theme is Food and we choose yogurt since there a lot of beneficial microbes in it. So, we focuses on how to store them properly, the benefits of eating yogurt, the microbes that can be found in the yogurt and more. In this course, I get to explore the benefits of eating yogurt in more details. Before this, I just know that it is good for our body and that's all. I don't know WHY and HOW they benefit us. The yogurt is rich in nutrients, can boost our digestive health, strengthen our immune system, promote weight management and many more. After knowing all these, how can I not eat yogurt? Haha. Thus, by doing this project, it makes me think more about the yogurt. However, the yogurt is not suitable for everyone because some of us may develop allergies to it. It is such a pity but there is always another alternative for them. I also get to know more people from other universities and work with them. Although some of them are quite hard to approach at first, but then they slowly open up for us and be more comfortable with us. It is such a privilege to be able to work together in this wonderful project. I would like to thank Dr. Wan and my group member to make this project a hit. Although it is quite sad that we didn't managed to go to the school due to the holiday but still, I hope we can go there next semester. I mean, when will this chance come again for us right, to teach the special kids about the microbe. To be honest, this project place a huge burden on me. For the report, I did on Immunology part and this subject happens to be my weakness among the other three. But still, I'm glad not doing the genetic part because I didn't favor genetic compared to others cause I didn't understand the lecture and this subject is quite heavy. So, I find a hard time to learn this subject. After doing the final exam, I finally grasp the course. Hahaha. They are quite fun to learn actually if you understand the principle behind it and doing the lab works in order to enhance your knowledge about genetic. Okay, so back to STD. Hmmm. As we are all aware that students really love to do things at last minutes and that's includes me as well. However, some of us can't do it cause we didn't learn it beforehand in the class. That is why it's kind a slower our tempo to finish the project. Besides that, we have to present the poster on the same week as our exam. Since I'm in charge in doing the posters, it is really stress me out. Some of them even ridicule my poster for not being "scientific enough". This makes me even felt down and sad. I feel like I want to give up but my group members always encourage and support me in everything I do. Without them, the poster may not be finished before the presentation. For the report part, I felt sorry for Hafizah for not being able to help her and also aid her during the presentation. Since we are all busy with our own parts, we miss to learn about others' parts. Thus, when the judges ask question about A, then only the person who is doing A will be able to answer. If that person didn't know, then we are doomed. Although we are a team, we still treat this project like an individual task. But then, we learn our mistakes and start to take notes on other people part as well so that we will not face the same mistakes again during the presentation at the school and in future. That is why, I believed that this project teaches me a lot of things that I should improve myself to be better in future. The students from the school are very friendly and curious. They ask a lot of things that some of them are unexpected. They didn't afraid and shy to ask. These things also teaches me that you should ask if you want to stay on a correct path. Never be afraid and be more confidence. Last but not least, I also learnt more about HPV. We even go the K17 library for the first time to collect the materials. I even borrow a book from the library which I have never done it during the past semesters. We really put a lot of efforts for this subject and I really hope that we get a satisfying mark. It is really fun to experience and be part of this project. Hope to do it again. And thanks to the passionate Dr. Eddie who is always remind us to submit the mind map, report, padlet and poster on time. Without Dr. Eddie, Dr. Wan, Dr. Saila, Dr. Asilah and Dr. Adelene, this project may be impossible to be done.
