I made this on the second try because the first one got cracks in it. I made a lip orientation on the plate to make it different from a normal chip dip. The cup in the center is a second try because the first one I did was too thin and it collapsed. I completed this one pretty quickly because I knew what to do after making mistakes with the first one. I threw a normal bowl with a wide lip and thought it looked great. But I wasn't satisfied how basic it was so I decided to use my thumb and push out the clay all around the inside of the bowl. My thumb is what created the bumps on the outside so thats why I named it a thumb bowl. I decided to throw a smaller bowl which turned out pretty good. It didnt work out because it started to crack along different parts of the lip. The bowl was very difficult to do at first and in the picture that was my third try at the center bowl. I made the double bubble to work on my hand control when making a piece. It is pretty large as well so any side plant is perfect. I poked three holes into the planter as you can see from the other picture. The plate was the perfect size i wanted. Its a pretty big and heavy piece. I made it big for my room because i use my double bubbles to hold stuff which are to small so i made it big to store a lot more stuff. I trimmed the bottom to be the smallest point and it comes down at an angle. I also did an orientation in four spots around the vase making little indents to give it some character.
