I think that the two of them are going to be great friends and create a lot of problems for other people. I wonder why people think that there is complete darkness in the outside world. I wonder if the city of ember is underground or in some kind of dome. I think that the mayor might be a villain later in the book.I wonder what is going to happen next in the book. I think that the chapters in the book are very long i had to read until page 30. also if the world was so dark how could the builders have built the city of ember? I think that there are a lot of flaws in the city, and i think doon and lina are going to fix them. I do not think that Lina should trade jobs with Doon. Yes, she hates her job but if the so called generator gets into the wrong hands I imagine that their could be a problem. I feel happy for Lina getting her dream job but can not help thinking what Doons ¨Big Plans" The envision that Lina had was probably her running around the city being messenger. I think that in the City of Ember people are counting on the light bulbs that light their city more then anything else. Hence, the reason why electrical person is the most important job. And it is the citizens greatest fear that after one of their power outages the power will never come back on. I probably has something to do with the Builders and the Instructions and what not. A recurring theme seems to be the city of Lina's dreams where everyone is bright and everything is bright. Lina hopes that somewhere someday that that city either exists or will exist. I wounder how someone does not run out of breath or feel any pain in their legs when they are messenger? Maybe they are all robots! The fact that Doon has never seen a river leads me to believe that their is not a lot of streams, oceans, pools, lakes, ponds, or river near or in ember. Doons thoughts about city falling apart and nothing doing anything about lead me to believe that the people doing something about it are probably him and Lina saving the city of ember. This is big news knowing that Lina might have the possible instructions to save the city if they ever have a power outage again. This gives me even more reason to believe that the point of this book is for Doon and Lina to bond while looking for the instructions and going on an adventure to save the city. I think that Sadge Merall is just someone who is curious. I think this because it said that Sadge said that it was so dark. And I remember Lina saying something about it being to dark for anyone to further explore. When I say IT I mean the outside world that extends farther then the city of ember. I think that Sadge tried to go beyond because he was board of his life. I think this because I also remember Lina saying that Supply Depot clerks are often board because it is a very dulling job. Also I think that lina is the main character and doon is more of a secondary character. i think that the main goal in this book is to get into the "unknown regions". I think that the city of ember has a lot of flaws i think that some of those flaws are that you are not tested to see what jobs you would be good at and which jobs you would be really bad at. I also think that lina is going to go to the unknown regions. i think that we will find this stuff out very soon, maybe in the next part we read.

btw i only read to page 71 because that is where the chapter had ended and i did not feel like reading until page 83.

Also, I think that the fact that the last one was 3 minutes and this one was 7 minutes is really bad. I bet it means that they are getting closer and closer to the city´s lights never turning back on. I think that the paper that Poppy was eating was the instructions. Which is sad because she was eating them. I have two theories either Captain Fleery is just annoying and is directing Lina from everything but the truth. Or, she is on some kind of team were nobody is supposed to read the instructions. Lina appreciates the way Mrs. Murdo helps by keeping Granny company, tending to Poppy, and making breakfast. Lina overhears in the market line that a shop on Night Street has colored pencils. After debating the expense of such a luxury, she takes Poppy and heads to the shop. She passes  Sadge on the steps of the Gathering Hall, calling out sad descriptions of his journey to the Unknown Regions. Nearby, Believers, a pseudo-religious group, sing to a pipe player. Lina wonders what they mean when they sing “Soon, soon, coming soon”. Once in the Night Street shop, Lina realizes the shopkeeper is looper, the man who sent a message to mayor cole. Lina worries over the expensive purchase, but she chooses a blue and a green pencil and pays. When Lina turns to leave, Poppy is gone. She runs outside to look for her, but the lights go off. lina panics during the whole long blackout. Finally the lights come back on. She resumes looking for Poppy, a few people get mad at her for losing a baby, but soon doon comes out of a shop holding Poppy’s hand. Lina thinks that these could be the instructions to get to the city that she had always dreamed of. That could be a possibility but I think that the instructions to saving the city is a more likely idea.  The fact that Lina thinks Doon would b the only person interested  in what she found help proves my point that  Doon and Lina go on an adventure to save the city. I think that Doon really needs to work on his anger manegment. But at the same time he is getting bullied.
