Neurodivergent tip: use hyperfocus

- an unbreakable or uninterruptable state of focus that is common for neurodivergent people
- Hyperfocus on a certain subject can cause side-tracking away from assigned or important tasks.

BUT, also remember to take care of your body and listen to what it needs (limit hyperfocusing at the expense of your eating, sleeping, and toilet breaks). If you are struggling with time management, try scheduling apps made for neurodivergent people (Tiimo), or talk to a counsellor/GP. Remember, struggling with executive dysfunction doesn't mean you are inherently lazy.

1. Pomodoro Technique / sprint

- The Pomodoro Technique is a time management technique that involves working in focused, 25-minute intervals followed by short breaks.

- Set a timer for 25 minutes and work on a specific task during that time. When the timer goes off, take a 5-minute break

- before starting another 25-minute work session.

The Pomodoro Sprint is a variation:
- Working on a specific task for a longer period of time, usually 90-120 minutes, followed by a more extended break

- This approach can help you dive deep into your revision material, improve your focus and concentration, and avoid distractions.

2. The Eisenhower Matrix

- The Eisenhower Matrix is a time management tool that helps you prioritize your tasks by assessing their urgency and importance.

- Using this technique, you categorize your revision tasks into four quadrants based on their urgency and importance.

- This approach can help you focus on high-priority tasks and avoid wasting time on less critical tasks.

3. Stay Flexible

- adjust to changes or unexpected events

- ensure your strike a good work/relaxation balance to avoid burnout

Warmer - Mentimeter

Neurodivergent tip: visual media and audible media can be more beneficial for studying if you struggle with written formats. Writing with colours/using coloured filters can help keep your attention to written work and make it easier to read (dyslexia). And, text-to-speech is useful for turning written media into audible media to keep focus.

Neurodivergent tip: Sometimes studying with someone in the room can help. This is called 'body-doubling'. They don't have to be doing the same task as you, but their presence can help you feel supported and help keep you accountable.

Beta waves - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k84hUIFssF0

Research: Beta waves are high-frequency, low-amplitude brain waves that are commonly observed in an awaken state. They are involved in conscious thought and logical thinking, and tend to have a stimulating effect. Having the right amount of beta waves allows us to focus.

•

Low beta waves (12–15 Hz): known as “beta one” waves and associated mostly with quiet, focused, introverted concentration.

https://www.sciencedirect.com/topics/medicine-and-dentistry/beta-wave
