         <description><![CDATA[<p><strong>English Culture: Customs and Traditions (30-minute activity)</strong></p><p><strong>Topic:</strong> Discovering England – Food, Music, and Traditions<br><strong>Level:</strong> 6th grade – 2.º Ciclo do Ensino Básico<br><strong>Time:</strong> 30 minutes</p><p><strong>Learning Objectives:</strong></p><ul><li><p>To identify and describe some cultural elements of England (food, music, traditions).</p></li><li><p>To develop vocabulary related to English culture.</p></li><li><p>To improve listening and speaking skills through interaction.</p></li></ul><p><strong>Materials Needed:</strong></p><ul><li><p>Flashcards or images of: <strong>Fish and Chips</strong>, <strong>Big Ben</strong>, <strong>afternoon tea</strong>, <strong>the Queen’s Guard</strong>, <strong>the London Bus</strong>, <strong>football (soccer)</strong>.</p></li><li><p>Worksheet with matching and short writing activity (provided below).</p></li><li><p>Audio/video (optional): short clip or music excerpt from a British band (e.g., The Beatles or Queen).</p></li></ul><p><strong>Step-by-Step Plan:</strong></p><p><strong>1. Warm-up (5 minutes):</strong></p><p><strong>Teacher says:</strong><br>“Today we are going to learn about England! What do you know about England? Do you know any English food or music?”</p><p>Let students say a few words or ideas they already know.</p><p><strong>2. Presentation (10 minutes):</strong></p><p>Show the images or flashcards and introduce each concept:</p><p>🟢 <strong>Fish and Chips</strong> – “It is a popular food in England. People eat fried fish and chips (French fries).”<br>🟢 <strong>Big Ben</strong> – “Big Ben is a famous clock in London.”<br>🟢 <strong>Afternoon Tea</strong> – “People drink tea and eat cakes or sandwiches at 4 o’clock.”<br>🟢 <strong>The Queen’s Guard</strong> – “These are the soldiers in red and black hats. They guard the King’s or Queen’s house.”<br>🟢 <strong>Red London Bus</strong> – “It is a big red bus. It has two floors!”<br>🟢 <strong>Football (Soccer)</strong> – “Football is very popular in England.”</p><p>Optionally, play a short audio of a British band (30 seconds).</p><p><strong>3. Activity – Worksheet (10 minutes):</strong></p><p><strong>Part A: Match the picture to the name.</strong><br>(Students match vocabulary to images.)</p><p><strong>Part B: Complete the sentences.</strong><br>Example:</p><ol><li><p>People in England eat fish and ________.</p></li><li><p>Big ______ is a big clock.</p></li><li><p>The red bus has two ________.</p></li><li><p>The Queen’s Guard wears a red ______.</p></li></ol><p><strong>Part C (Optional): Draw your favorite English thing and write one sentence.</strong><br>“I like ______ because ______.”</p><p><strong>4.
