This also brought in a lot of media attention.<br><br>*The Soviet Union launched a space station which was a huge accomplishment because humans could now live in space. Most people who own cars use GPS in today's world.</li><li>Infrared ear thermometers are a NASA-derived advancement. They measure the amount of energy emitted by the eardrum in the same way the temperature of stars and planets is measured. At the present, artificial limbs have drastically improved using this technology.</li><li>Smoke and carbon monoxide detectors were developed for a NASA program in the 1970s. In the present, firefighting equipment widely used throughout the United States is based on NASA-developed lightweight fireproof materials.</li></ul><div><br></div>]]></description>
