My mom and dad had recently moved into a 2-bedroom house with my brother who was only 3 years old at that time. My mom was about 7 months pregnant from my sister and worked in Garden California in a factory named Graphic Print that designed t-shirts. My dad worked as a bus driver for adults with special needs in a company in Compton California. It was around 12-1 pm that my dad was taking his 4-hour break before picking up the students from school and decided to turn on the television to watch the live news. On the news was a video of a semi-truck driver in the middle of the street trying to make a left turn but was surrounded by 4 black men who severely beat him for being white. The rest of the day was a blur however, my dad remembers the owner of the house they were renting rushing over to throw water in the roof to prevent the house from catching fire from the commercial building that caught fire nearby. The following days both of my parents’ jobs closed their business since there had been a ton of violence in the streets. Eventually when my dad went back to work and the bus company my dad worked for had written “Owned by black people” on the side of the bus to prevent the bus from being attacked. My parents recall people knocking in their door looking to sell the loitered merchandise that they had stolen during the Los Angeles Riots. Fortunately, my parents remained safe during the Los Angeles Riots, but they will always remember this historic event.

My lungs are filled with smoke that is coming from the buildings on fire 

I can see the store in the corner has been loitered

Mankind has lost their minds and gone mad

My heart begins to beat at 1000 beats per minute

I step back inside my house and turn on the news

Rodney King an African American Male has been beaten by the LAPD

The attack was made by 4 white racist police officers

All of this violence induced on a person over a car chase I am flabbergasted 

Today we have regressed 

Today will go down in history
